Well, I am posting a day early this year due to the fact that the 4th of July holidays start this weekend and I have my blocks done already for a change. LOL!

Each month a new block (or more) will be posted and a new thread will begin for each new month. I hope many of you will join in and we will have a lot of new quilts to show off in 12 months or less.

You can join in at any time. We'd love to have you!
NOTE: Please be sure to "Subscribe" to this thread so you don't miss anything.

This month there are 2 blocks (chosen by Judith Lickteig - thank you, Judith!). As always, you can do one, two, or none of them. Your choice. These blocks will be yours, so choose your fabrics and quilt away. Make table runners, quilts, wall hangings, or potholders with them - your choice.

NOTE: All patterns come from The Quilter's Cache/Marcia Hohn.
Please read her terms and conditions of use here. http://www.quilterscache.com/TermsPage.html

July blocks:
Album

Annie's Choice
http://www.quilterscache.com/A/AnniesChoiceBlock.html

Please let me know if you would like to choose blocks from The Quilter's Cache/Marcia Hohn (www.quilterscache.com) website for future months, and send me the link(s). I do have enough through the end of this year.

Thank you for joining in.
Happy quilting for all!

So in August you post a new pattern to sew? Maybe I can start there you gals can step me through it? In the meantime, I'll breakout the quilting books and start reading at night.

Thank you Judith. I find it very rewarding to see all the individual pieces come together to make a picture. It certainly makes you practice the blanket stitch, I can tell you, lol. A soft baby book would be lovely!

Katie, I love your applique! Thanks for sharing your work. For some reason I have always thought applique would be so difficult and have shied away from it. Maybe, I should start with just one block. I would love to make a soft baby book.

I love using binders for everything. I will start using that idea once I get started with this BOM!

Debbie, I love your blocks! Thank you, Julie!
I use a binder too Grace. In fact, I started using one for this BOM thread when it started. I just slip the patterns for each month into a sleeve and place the completed blocks into the back of it. I feel much more organized doing that.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and would love to start working with you on the BOM. My quilting skills are probably REALLY lacking as I haven't used them in over a decade. I know some stuff will come back but I was never really skilled to begin with. I hope to learn new things here! I have a lot of experience in applique but I've never completed a quilt. I have a baby quilt that I started probably 20 years ago but don't know how to finish it. So, I'm here to learn!

I agree with Marie, Grace. Cut them down to the smaller size if you can't find enough that are the same size.

Grace, just cut the bandanas down to the size of the smallest one plus seam allowance to make them uniform.

I have been buying bandanas for the psst year and sticking them in the drawer... I pulled them awhile back and noticed that "Not a bandanas are created equal!"... uugh!
I have a great array of colors...just need to sort by weight and size...
My plan it to make a Bandana quilt for my trailer.
Btw... your traier is ADORBS!
What year and make is it?

Judith, LOVE your blocks, in my favorite color!Katie, I agree with Grace. This grou I am a beginner quilter and jumped in. This group has given me confidence to try more challenging blocks. I have learned to make better color selections, cutting and sewing techniques. I need to catch up, however camping trips are calling.

Ruthie... I am such a remedial quilter... sew don't get discouraged.. get to challenging yourself... discover your inner quilter...

I have a 2" Binder....that I put in those plastic sleeve page thingies.(sheet protectors) ... and I put my block samples in the "sheet protector "
sometimes I have to fold the blocks to fit which is no big deal.....
Just makes it easy visual storage to keep the block /templete & notes tucked in.

As for sewing skills... mine are wonky at best... but... someday the will be fabulous!

Ruthie
Jump in!!
most of the blocks can be broken in to a 4 patch, nine patch grid. Sometimes drawing them out on graph paper is helpful. I did that alot when I first started quilting.

Beautiful blocks, Judith and Debbie. Please join us Ruthie. As stated, you don't have to show us your blocks and they are great practice. And you can use up scraps. LOL
