This is one of my very own first roses! We recently received a rose bush as a gift and each time a new rose opens I contemplate whether or not to cut it and bring it inside. So yesterday I finally took the plunge and cut my first rose and a couple other flowers. I love how beautiful it is! I can't wait for more roses.

Thank you for the information Annie. You are correct. They wouldn't solve my problem. I will have to keep my search going. They are very beautiful though.

Krista, FYI Gladiolas to need staking once they are above ground. They are top heavy and would droop otherwise. I use bamboo sticks and anchor them with ties. These are pretty but may not be a solution to your problem. Annie

Carole- thanks for the tip. I believe that's what my dad uses on his roses. I haven't put any on mine, but I will have to now!

Annie- beautiful! I love the looks of that flower! I would love to grow some of them. I am looking for something new to plant anyway. One plant in particular in my front yard is ugly. It grows so tall and falls over as if it's been ran over. It doesn't flow well with the rest. So next spring I'll pull it out and plant something new.

Peggy- I very much agree! The feeling I get each time I see a new rose open is simply perfect. I should reward myself with chocolate!

Krista, your rose and bush is lovely. I had a customer from northern CA stop by the shoppe who is an avid grower of roses. Of course northern CA is probably friendlier than my way upstate NY winters. Anyway, she said that horse manure is ideal for roses. Just passing the tip along. So, I took some from our vegetable garden and placed around my lonely rose bush.

Annie, your gladiola is lovely. Thank you for sharing!

oh Roses are so beautiful. They never disappoint. My world of flowers had centered around roses, day lilies, and iris for decades and now for the first time at age 65 I planted gladiolas and what a fun endeavor it has been. I got a mixed variety bag of them at Costco and wow they have been so beautiful! Your roses are lovely! Annie
