Hi Peg,
I don't have any gallon jars for you, but maybe if you don't find anyone to barter with you could inquire at your local pizza place(s). I used to see empty, gallon glass, olive jars in the window of one of our local places that anyone could take (though after some time they did start charging a couple of bucks if you weren't making a pizza purchase.)
