I was cleaning out a lil box of stuff I had stashed into another box, (while packing up to move).. and I found assorted special cards, photos and these 2 objects,,
So,, who remembers these...
any guesses?
yep,, it was a purse sized compact ashtray...
I am not a smoker, nor ever have been.. I can't even remember where I found this, It was a promotional by Bensen & Hedges cigarettes.
Ok, what about this? and yes, I did use this...
it was a lock ... for a rotary phone...
When I was teaching, back in the 1980's,,, I had a phone in my class room,,, but I kept a lock on it so no one could make call (long distance) on my phone.
The blue cylinder fit over the hole and you turned the little 'arm' outward with the key that kept the rotary from being able to be dialed.

These are new items to me too. Smoking was a big deal for many people, including women, until the side effects of a long term habit was realized.

It's funny,,, When I found the lil toteable ashtray,,, I remembered how 'ladies' magazines were bombarded with Cigaretts for women like Virginia Slims,
