Out of the blue is what we say when something happens that is so unexpected.

My doorbell rang just awhile ago and I opened the door to find a beautiful teenage girl standing there. "I see you watering your garden in the mornings when I am walking to school and I want to give you a plant to add to your garden". I must have looked shocked so she asked if that would be alright. I told her I would love to have her gift - a potted red tipped coleus.

I remember seeing her and speaking to her but she never crossed my mind other than those brief meetings. I would never have dreamed a teenager would give an older woman a second thought much less to give her a plant. I told her I would plant it so she could see it when she walked by.

My son who passed away last year has been heavy on my mind for several days and when she gave me the plant I thought oh how I needed her special gift of thinking of me. I don't believe in coincidences. She wanted to give a gift and I was in need of receiving it and the Lord put us together.

Isn't it great that all teenagers don 't look down on older people. You both need a hug!

Thanks April and Krista for your sweet words. Checked on the coleus today and it is thriving. Before first frost in Nov I will cover it with leaves and hope it comes back next spring.

Beautiful story, Sara. I definitely believe that everything happens for a reason and she was meant to end up at your door. This makes my heart happy. I hope her plant grows beautifully in your garden.

What a lovely story. Thank you so much for sharing. You hear so much about all of the horrors going on in the world, it's so nice to hear something good for once.

A wonderful story Sara. I believe God always sends us something to cheer us when we need it. I call this "When God winks at you." I believe every thing happens for a reason and your plant was sent to you from God through a very nice teenager. It will make her happy to see it when she passes by---so both of you have been blessed.

My dear FarmGirl sisters thank you all for your sweet and uplifting words. I knew y'all would understand what it meant to me. I had only meant to write about the sweet girl and her gift then I found myself baring my soul to you about losing my son so I left those words in my post.

I also want to thank MaryJane for giving all of us a safe place to express ourselves. When we are on the Farm we are never alone.

Sara what a beautiful story!!! Bless that sweet girl who was so very kind to you!!! God knows what we have need of even when we don't know ourselves sometimes. I am so blessed to read this as we lost our oldest church member today. She was 89 years old and is now home with the Lord. I sure needed to read something with a little happiness to it! We sure do love you here at the farm.

Hugs!
