Well this month has been a series of shocks.
I received a message on FB about a friendship I developed with a woman on my Etsy team years ago. I helped her through her Mother's passing of cancer.

The message just said she passed away over the weekend. Who sends messages of a death on FB?

Then I received a message from one of my siblings that my Father was in the hospital on life support and I needed to sign a paper to take him off the ventilator.

I didn't have much to do with my Dad or siblings. Just a very painful past experience. So, to be needed at his death was very unsettling.

He was taken off the life support on Sunday and is now at peace.

I could really use some uplifting cards and words of comfort.

I did not know how his death would affect me until now. I just want to go on with my life and be at peace again.

Thanks for your kindness.

Marsha---I really do understand what you are going through. I loved my mom so much but she was always mean to me. When she committed suicide in 1997 it really threw me for a loop. I think losing a parent is so hard when we did not get along is because we realize that there is no more hope that things will mend and be OK. Also it makes us think of our own deaths and how close that is. My best friend died of cancer five years ago and I did not get to say a proper good-bye. I talked to her husband as we could not bear to speak of it. My car broke down and I could not travel to see her and she did not answer my letters---hurt me so bad. I did go to the funeral and her husband put me in the front seat by his son as we went to the cemetery. How she hurt me by no response and how my mom hurt me by her suicide. Life is sure hard and people are mean at times. All we can do is do our best and live good kind and caring lives. God bless you and HE will see you through. As you age you will understand there is nothing we can do about certain things. Time hardens your heart a little bit and gives you strength. God bless you---you are in HIS care.
