Dawgonit Maryjane!!!

Because of you (that's what I am telling my hubby).. I went and bought the entire 6 seasons of Downton Abby....

(I could have bought it off PBS, but I didn't want to wait 1-2weeks to get it)

Over the past 1/2 dozen years I have, for one reason or another only been able to watch bits-n-pieces of Downton Abby... and go figure,, some of it was re-aired just before our European house guests arrived.. so once again, I didn't get to watch but only a few episodes... So,,, I searched it online and found it at Target.. and there was only 1 box,, I hugged that box in my arms until I made it to the check out!
I told DH I was going to set aside a few(probably more) weekends to binge watch it!.. He thinks I am nuts,, but he will be able to go fishing so as to not have to hang around the house while I plant my butt in front of the DVD player!

Mary Jane... you are such an instagater!!! heeheehee!

I started watching Downton Abbey again when my husband was gone as he didn't like to watch it first time around. He came home early one day and is now hooked on it. Now I have to find something else to watch when he is gone.....

Love it! In the 1970's Upstairs, Downstairs was today's Downtown Abbey! I watched PBS since I was a kid it was one of the few channels we had! My Granmother was not a fan of TV. We could watch PBS and The wonderful World of Disney!
Connie
I love Pride and Predjuice with Colin Firth! PBS just ran it again. 6 nights. I am goimg to buy that on DVD.

"Downton Abbey" is a BIG favorite for my hubby and me! Watched it all . . . I may be purchasing the DVDs in the future. We also liked "Poldark" a lot and I did purchase all the DVDs of that one which we have watched this summer . . . waiting for season 5.

Thanks Dawn! I'm going to ask my MIL which other shows she watches and borrow them if she has them. It will take awhile for me to get through them, but hopefully this winter I'll have more time.

Heehee!... Queen Bee,,, why am I not surprised that you are enjoying PBS...

Hubby and I choose not to have cable/Dish TV,, instead we get about 2 dozen channels the old fashion way,,,
I can watch gardening, cooking, crafting and travel shows on Create TV & PBS,, and we choose not to be visually offended with what is on the other channels and even worse,, I am not force feed the crap that marketers (commercials)try to force on us.

Thank goodness for PBS...

I'll confess to that bit of mischief for sure, Katmom. "SHE made me do it."

And I agree with the PBS-only persuasion. I have an old-fashioned pair of rabbit ears and it's the only TV station I get. Lately, I've been taking in all the specials on pollinators. I always learn so much from PBS.

Anne of Green Gables has been airing recently. Such lovely programming.

To be honest with you Krista, all of the PBS BBC shows are fabulous. The historical depictions are spot on and the scenery is breathtaking. The clothes, homes, and story lines are incredible as well. We pretty much PBS shows exclusively here at our house. They are the only good thing on TV to us!

This is my MILs favorite show and suggested I watch it before we went to Europe. Of course I didn't have the time, but she still has them all for me to watch. Looks like she isn't the only fan lol! I guess it's time I start watching them myself! She also suggested Victoria. I'll have to watch that one too.

Yep,, it is worth watching...D.A. details the costuming and the lives of not just the Wealthy, but of the lower/working class too!

Yep,, our local PBS has been showing snippits of D.A., as well as bits of 'teasers' of the up coming moving in late Sept... even offered tickets for $100 to preview the movie before it is released.

Dianna,,, yep, I have watched a few episodes of Midwife'.. and one (no longer available) The Detectorists... total English humor... lol!

As for Queen Victoria,, I will have to put it on my radar for the upcoming season.

Gotta LOVE PBS!

I may need to borrow the DVDs from someone. I'll see if anyone here has it. I love the costuming of that era.

Grace, I watched everything episode of Downton Abby and all of the re-runs before I purchased the series on our PBS fall fund drive. I never tire of the story and all of the historical history that happened during the years . Now, I can just watch it whenever I wish and it still remains a favorite of mine for all time.

I am looking forward to the movie that comes out in September. Our local PBS station has been showing snippets and interviews of the actors during the current fall round raising campaign.

Grace, and anyone else who loves historical fiction, Downton Abby is a wonderful chronicle of the end of Edwardian life in Britain and the huge changes that WWI brought to the life of the nation. Binge watch to your heart's desire!!

My daughter and I watch when we can and enjoy Downtown Abbey but our favorite PBS show is Call of the Midwives!!!!! My mother got us watching that and we live it and I still think about the times we chatted excitedly about certain episodes. Makes me smile. Plus my 15 yr old doesn't mind sitting and watching with me! Bonus!!

We loved "Downtown Abbey" and "Victoria" on PBS. Enjoy binging on your own time. The stories are great and we are waiting impatiently for "Victoria" to start again this winter.

I like it,, but then I also liked PBS' 'Victoria" about Queen Victoria's time.. The story may be a bit ascewed,(sp) but the costuming was exquisite.
