I spotted this 'desk' which turned out to be a sewing table.. the top folds over to the back side of the table.. and then you lift up the sewing machine into sewing position..

are you ready???
$5.50 is what I paid...!!!
I was just going to donate the sewing machine back to the store but hubby suggested I save it for one of the grand girlies or a friend in need..
We got home checked everything out,, and Oh My Stars! the machine was so clean and sews very nice!
It's a 1971 Sears Best Kenmore 158 model.. and my being a bit of a machine snob, I was going to get rid of it,, but now I am having 2nd thoughts.. I just might keep it.. and search for some 'cams' for it to stitch up specialty stitches..
after all, one can never have to many sewing machines! Just ask Texadane and Quiltee!!!

Grace, you seriously have a lot of great luck for finding wonderful things dirt cheap!! This sewing table and machine is really fantastic and I agree with you hubby that it could make a perfect learning machine for a Grandchild!

I didn't realize this desk is wider then my others,, it is 45" and 17" deep.. so I am going to have to move some things around in my sewing room and take out one of the small desks....
I debated on whether to put my Hasqvernia (sp) in it and set the Kenmore aside,, but I want to sew a wee bit on the Kenmore first to see how I like it.
It is nice that as soon as I let off the 'gas pedal' the machine stops.. with my Singer 406 and my feather weight machines,, the machines will sew a few more stitches before they come to a stop.

Great find! Sears sewing machines were made by White at that time so it's probably a pretty good machine.

Since it's raining today.. DH is going to do a light sanding on the table top and re-seal.. so I have no edges that might snag my fabric..

Seriously! You can't even buy junk furniture that nice, let alone with the sewing machine! I never saw a large cabinet like that back then. They mostly had the small cabinets with the knee gadget you pressed to operate the machine! Boy does that date me! LoL!
