I am making masks to donate to physicians aiding in the COVID-19 outbreak and am in need of 1/2” double fold bias tape for the edges/straps. Color does not matter, lengths need to be 36” or longer... anything helps!

Let me know what you’d like in exchange if you have any to spare.

Thank you!

I need addresses for people who need things. I have some bias tape to be able to donate, nothing in return, or fabric etc. Let me know what you need and an address.

I made about 100 also. When the elastic supply ran out, I used shoe laces and twill tape, then 2 & 1/2" strips of fabric. Now I am almost out of the non woven fabric that I was putting in the middle of the fabric sandwich. ..or when I forgot I sewed it to the back of the mask. I learned that a smaller piece of non woven is better because then the ends don't get so thick.
My grand daughter took the box of assorted styles of masks to the hospital today!

Happy to report that I have completed over 100 masks and I was able to obtain, from various sources, bias tape! Thank you for the suggestions and Cristy thank you for donating bias tape. I’ll be taking a little break but when I start my second round I will be looking into suggested tie options. Thanks again and I hope everyone is well!

Make some i-cords out of DK or smaller weight yarn. They are pretty easy.

Mom, my sister, and I have been making masks. We have run out of elastic. Mom switched to shoe strings, and now ribbon. I showed Mom I could crochet or braid some ties. My sister is using the draw strings used in sweats and shorts. Necessity is the mother of invention... right?

Sara I just watched a lady make a mask. She used 2 and a half inch wide strips cut straight across the fabric. Go on you tube to Jordan Fabrics. They are located in Oregon. She is so nice. She said their post master called and asked her to make 80 for the postal workers.

Sarah - I do have the bias tape tool; however, I found that it did not work very easily. That could have been because the fabric wasn't cut on the bias. LOL! I think it may have sped up the ironing though; I just had to use my fingers to make sure the fabric was completely folding as it came out of the tool.

Thank you Julie! This will make the process easier I think. Saw someone online with a tutorial using a pin In Their ironing board to feed the strips through to make the creases... looked like it might be a time saver.

Sarah I too make bias with the width f the fabric. I do not use the bias tape tool, just keep folding and ironing.

Thank you Linda! I didn’t know you could do that. Do you use a bias tape tool or no?

For bias tape you make yourself, I don’t always go on the bias. I have made it with width of fabric strips for the ties for the masks.

Cristy, thank you so much! The supplies are getting pretty hard to find now and unfortunately the demand is not diminishing with them. Thank you so much for helping me get these done!

I have 20 or so yards dug out from stash that are all packed up and ready to go to post office tomorrow morning. Nothing for return. I know some mask supplies are really getting difficult to find.

Enjoying the day!

Don’t you have to have pretty long pieces of fabric to make it since you have to cut on the diagnal?, or can you piece it together? I was looking at the tool to make it on amazon actually... I haven’t done it before.
