Darlene, yes I did receive your cute altered wood block. It is sitting on the vintage wooden icebox in my living room. I am ashamed to say that according to my tablet..I took the photo on Sept 17th.
I don't know why I did not post it then...other than I have had a difficult time adjusting to my husbands being at home every day! I did not know he would be so needy, so bored so demanding of my time and help. So please accept my apology for not posting the photo in a timely manner!

Concerning altered wood blocks, discussion from the first round. I finally took some photos!

From the construction of a new house. Top photo is a green pumpkin made from rafter tails.
The middle is punkins made from smaller, more slender cuts. They are called " bob tails" They are cut from rafters so they don't interfere with the ceiling joists.
The smaller ones are " bird mouths" they are all different sizes of small cuts. Some are only two inches long up to maybe 5" long.
The bottom photo shows Rafter tails, bob tails and bird mouths.

Do not be afraid to stop at a construction site, of a new house, during the framing phase. The wood smells so good when freshly cut. If the contractor and the worker guys are cutting and have small pieces they would love to share with you, after all it goes to the local dump or land fill.
take your ha nd full of treasures home, sand them, paint them, decorate and enjoy.
My leaves are brown paper, smeared with a bit of paint. When almost dry, I crumpled them up.then partially uncrumpled them. I wrapped jute around the top, after adding some glue, and added the leaves. The extra jute string became the curly tendrals. (These pumpkins sat out In the rain last year, so curly no more!)
Wood glue was used.

Yesterday I received the most colorful Autumn altered wood block and related treats from Debbie (Blessed in Colorado/Oregon). The technique is a collage of pumpkins, Autumn leaves and produce on ALL sides and edges of the block. Thank you Debbie - I'm sure it was a time consuming project and I really appreciate the entire package.

You are truly blessed and and I hope safe in Oregon.
