Is anyone raising rabbits for meat? Looking for some tips. I'm hoping to be ready to buy bunnies in the spring. The book I'm reading say's it's cheaper to buy hutches than make your own. They show how to make your own but they are all wire. They put in a nest box when the female is about ready to have babies.
Questions: have you built your own hutches or do you buy them? What kind of shelter are you providing? I'm in the north and worried about cold more than heat. Is an all-wire bottom really ok? Do you buy pellets for feed or have you found something you can make on your own? Does registration really matter (when buying and for offspring) if you are raising for meat for yourself and maybe some day selling live to others? What are you favorite books or websites?
