Hi :)

It's always been one of my bucket list items - so I'm going to do it! I've signed up for the Master Gardener program and it starts next month.

Just wondering if any other Farmgirls are Master Gardeners? Any advice or thoughts about the program?

Thanks in advance,

Laura

You got that right! Looks like we'll be cooling off this week though. Hope it reaches Kingsville!

I am enjoying it so far - makes me realize I have so much to learn!

Now I am just ready for some cooler weather so it's actually fun to be outside in the garden!

Hey Laura!

I was a MG for a few years. It was fun; we met a lot of cool people and got a looooootttt of plants that way! You would enjoy it, I think! I did it when my youngest was still in a carrier and I was the baby of the group by at least 30 years. HA. You do have to volunteer a lot to reach your hours, but if you love plants, that's easy to do. I may do it again someday. You'll have access to a ton of great information, specific to your area. :)

I am a Master Gardener in Wyoming. Wonderful program that I have used so many times to help myself and others. Enjoy!

Hi Laura,

I am in Connecticut. I became a Master Gardener in 2015 and an Advanced Master Gardener in 2017. (I don’t know if Texas offers the Advanced program). CONGRATULATIONS! It will be an accomplishment to be very proud of! I would say my advice is do not get frustrated! Work on the projects early- do not wait until the last minute. We had to do a TSV book “ Tree Shrub Vine” presentation. I would be interested in knowing what all they have you do to earn MG status. Once you get it, be proud, keep up on your certification, and ENJOY!
