These were some expensive sewing needles...
Boye needle company... These are size 11 needles in little glass tubes...
Back in the days... When Sewing wasn't a Hobby but rather a necessity... A package like this cost $1.50... yikes!
Back in the turn of the century up until the late 1940's... Wages were nothing like they are today...

I was the "Blue Chip" stamp queen... It cost me 54 books of Blue Chips to buy my 1st upright vacuum, a Hoover and I still have it... But now compared to the modern ones, it weighs a ton and noisy as all get out!! Lol!

Lol I still have some S&H stamps - somewhere. I've gotten card table w/chairs and lots of other stuff with the stamps

I have several little wooden needle holders,, that we probably 'Freebies" They have the store name and address' on them,,
Which brings to mind,,, who remembers getting free shoe horns, pocket rain caps, little sewing kits, thimbles etc from shops and Banks...

I have a needle sales container that was at the store to hold the containers of needles and bobbins. I bought it at an antique shop and it is about 1/3 full of bobbins, shuttles and needles - many of these little cases - some empty but most have some in them. There is a dial on top where you dial in the machine you have and it tells you what needles and bobbins to use. The bobbins are the long spindle ones. I wish I had a place to display it. It does not hand on the wall - it has to sit flat.

My mother had a similar Boye needle package. I remember using the needles inside it. I wonder if she still has it.

What I don't know is if the price was per needle or for all of them in the wooden holder.
I'll have to do some research.
But it makes sense that a shop would have these wooden containers filled, and each containers would have different sized needles and noted on the top of the lid. Size 11,
size 12, etc .
