We live on the high desert here in Central Oregon on a smaller golf course community which hosts a wide variety of wildlife. The wildlife is one thing we absolutely LOVE about living here, however, as you all know, wildlife and gardens don't always go well together if you're expecting any type of a harvest. 2 years ago, we added Charley to our family, my heart has skipped several beats ever since, I'm completely in love with this fur baby! He's a Chiweenie (mix of Chihauhau and dachsund), several little girls at my youngest son's school giggle every time they ask what kind of dog he is! LOL! Anyways, this dog is a total hunter. He has flushed duck and quail our of our back yard, brought their eggs in the house, caught mice and chases off all the rabbits! We call the rabbits "Tonto" because they taunt him daily as they run our fence line and try to sneak snacks from the garden. He's not caught one yet, but he's come close several times as he chases them in circles through out our yard until Tonto can find an escaspe route. AND, I'm actually enjoying a small harvest from our garden now that it's protected! He may be small, but he is fierce!

Thanks for sharing such a gorgeous photo of your little Charley. He is absolutely adorable!! I just want to cuddle him. We lost of little PJ about 12 months ago. She was a kelpie X and we just loved having her in our lives. We have been thinking about getting another dog - maybe I should be looking for a Chiweenie!!

Charley is so precious! I hope he has many happy years chasing rabbits, and spending those years with you, his family. Dogs are so very special. I lost my Oreo almost four years ago, and I still miss him every day.

hugs,
Marcy

April your sweet Charley is just adorable! His coloring is very pretty. I’m happy you have a dog that helps keep your garden in tip top shape. Luckily we haven’t had wildlife try and take my garden yet, but hopefully my dogs would step up and help!

April I loved hearing about your Charley. He's a cutie and a keeper for sure. My Annie hunts in my little backyard. Like your Charley nothing that creeps, runs, hops, or crawls across her yard gets pass her.
