I owe this idea to Linda aka quiltee..
It's a wine glass holder that you wear around your neck!

I did a bit of tweaking,, but that's just because I can't leave well enough alone! Lol!
I added fusible heavy weight interfacing between 2 layers of light weight fusible batting... and... Of course I had to add a yoyo on each side....

You will need about 36" of trim for the part that goes around the neck. I sandwiched mine between the batting but you can sew it on top of you prefer.... I also quilted the top of my fabric like Linda did.

Then you use the plastic snap together wine glasses...

I wouldn't do the Chachacha while wearing your wine glass around your neck, but .. It makes for a cute idea,, and since I am a white wine partaker, I don't have to worry about red wine stains.. heeheehee!

Sew... What are you creating today?

Note: If the interfacing is TOO stiff, the glass will cause it to tip over and spill. I prefer it to sag a little.

Krista - I have used mine with a glass of wine - I only fill it half way and have to be super careful. No dancing. LOL!

Oh my goodness! You all make me laugh so hard! Grace, have you actually tried it with the glass filled up yet?

Winnie -
I made this after seeing the one my friend had that was made out of black rubber. The size is basically 5-1/2" x 11" (half of a sheet of typing paper); I make a paper pattern for the cut-out corners. I sandwich cotton batting between 2 pieces of fabric, channel quilt the rectangle, use pinking shears to cut the corners out and pink the edges, then stitch 1/4" around. I add the approx. 36" ribbon for around the neck by folding under about 1/2" and stitching down. You can add before doing the stitching around like Grace did, if you want. If you need more info just let me know. They make great fun gifts for wine or champagne drinkers.

Now this wine holder is the Cat’s Meow!! So cute and fun! Grace, you can maybe put a cracker and cheese beside your glass as it looks sturdy enough. Linda, where did you find this pattern? It never ceases to amaze me how Farmgirls who do a lot of sewing comic across the most unique things to make.

Grace, did you make one for Hubby? And would he wear it?

That's funny, Sara.

Also, the one I saw first was given to a friend of mine - and it was a solid piece of rubber with a strap. I thought it was so simple (ugly, really, just black) and that I could make them more colorful. LOL!

Jean - I think Dollar Tree has them, and other places where you can get party supplies - napkins, plates, cups, etc.

I'm just curious, Grace, why did you want to make it stiffer with the added batting? It almost looks like a tray. LOL!

Grace & Linda, bless your little hearts. I can sleep easy tonight knowing I have lived long enough to have seen everything - well almost everything - I have faith you girls will come up with something else I haven't seen.
