A belated but very grateful thank you to our farmers. It is a hardworking and rewarding life you lead. We appreciate everything you do to provide food for our country.

Cindy, farmers have been affected by not being able to hire the workers needed for their crops thanks to COVID. On top of that we in the Midwest have had a severe drought this year. Farmers have had to slaughter animals due to the lack of feed. Prices are going up and shortages are showing in the grocery stores. Whole Foods, a grocery chain I shop at, said turkeys will be one of those shortages and people should order theirs early for Thanksgiving. I told my family we may wind up with a roast chicken instead!

As Barbara's quote from Bette Davis says "Old Age Ain't No Place for Sissies!" the same can be said about the farming life!

No Farms---No Food! That is for sure-and as a hobby farmer I cannot understand how real farmers grow it all. They deserve so much praise and thanks. My friend thinks food grows on shelves in Kroger-we al need to be aware of the source of our food.

I’m a day late but thank you so very much to all our wonderful farmers out there. You are the heart of us all!

Cindy, I’m not sure if we are having that problem here, but my guess would be yes. We are having employee shortages in so many places. I have even received an email from my sons school saying that they are not receiving the food they need to feed the kids and are having to make adjustments. That really broke my heart.

Oh gosh, I missed this important day!! Thank-you Connie for posting this because I didn't know about it. Yes, a HUGE thanks to all of our farmers for crops and animals because we depend on you for our food each day!

Cindy, I am not sure about the effects of Covid on farmers here in the states. Hopefully some of our Farmgirls here will see this post and make comments. Covid has disrupted so many things here as well.

Thanks for the reminder Connie! Our National Farmers Day here in Australia is 20 November, but you have prompted me to perhaps do something special this year for the local farmers. My parents have always been farmers and I have grown up witnessing first hand the challenges and rewards of a farming lifestyle. I know they wouldn't have it any other way.
It has been a particularly challenging time over here for some of our fruit and vegetable growers. Due to the COVID pandemic restricting international travel, many of the Islander communities who would normally come over for the picking season have not been able to enter the country and, therefore, farmers have struggled to get their crops off in time. The strawberry growers up on the Sunshine Coast had started to plough their crops under because there wasn't enough workers to pick their fruit. It breaks my heart to see this happen. Are you having similar issues over there in America?
