I know the ones you are talking about. Yes, can't have a broken leg on the horses!!! I have tripped over several gopher holes myself!

Amanda, my hubby uses these metal trapes that,, impale the gophers. instant and hubby buries the gopher deep down in the hole...
Our neighbor's horses are always by the fence line waiting for us to bring them apples, and needless to say, the last thing we want is for Keria and Spice to go
down due to a gopher hole..

I use GopherHawk traps. There's a bit of a learning curve, but they work great. I don't like to kill anything, but unfortunately the gophers cause serious structural damage to our driveway and house foundation.

Carrie, great idea, but I am encouraging our Bee population to produce more bees... Also we get Spring Robins who like to arrestor our yard of worms and grubs.

FYI, my hubby terminated the tuber terror,,, so that gopher is now in gopher heaven with his gopher cousins!

That is so maddening, Grace!! We have a squirrels in our yard that are constantly digging in the big flower pots that we plant in. In the fall when the acorns fall, many end up in these big pots and the squirrels are constantly digging them all up along with the plants!

If gophers enjoy grubs, try spraying your whole yard with a mix of 1/4 (or 1/3) bleach to 3/4 (or 2/3) water. This will kill the grubs and drive the gophers away, do it every month/6 weeks the first few years, and start reducing thereafter. It takes care of lots of ickies, but if your yard is a haven for bees, you may not want to do this,

Oh wow, sorry to hear about that visitor Grace! Hard to believe though that your crocuses are up already. We still have several inches of snow that received a coating of ice last night here. It is going to be several more weeks before our spring bulbs can fight their way free.

Good luck getting rid of the little varmint!

Oh no! I don't know how you get rid of those guys. They used to get our tulips every year until they almost completely wiped them out. Hope you can get him to move on.
