So in my collection of sewing baskets, some are vintage, some newer...
I never pass up on even the most neglected ones...
I have re-done several as gifts, which I did according to the personality of the recipient..
I did a cute little Western themed one for my trailer...
I am currently going repair the orange one which was my cousin's (1970's).
Gluing on old orphan jewelry is the perfect bling.

I love that idea of making one into a little first aid box for the car or for a camping trip. So much cuter that the plastic container I used!!

They also make cute little simple 1st aid kits...

One of the big ones is just for Yoyo making... and another large one has my wool felt patterns and kits in it,,
I hang little tags off of the handles to identify what is in them.

April, they are perfect and light weight..
I love having mine in my trailer and motorhome. just grab and go sit outside and work,, or if camping in foul weather, small enough to keep your sewing or letter writing or crafting supplies together.

Grace they are wonderful! I have a collection of old sewing baskets, I just love them. I should try to refurbish the ones that are stained.

Good job Kat. I Have four older ones from Family. I must say I'm always tempted to buy
one when I see them at the thrift. You did a really nice re-make on yours, so pretty.

Grace, your sewing basket redo turned out really cute! I love your ideas of how to rejuvenate these baskets for another go at being used again.

Awww, Thanx Sara...
On one of my girl glamping trips, we used a western theme, so I fortunately found the little sewing basket which was perfect to corral my boot bracelet and western jewelry...

Oops, forgot to add the 1970's orange one.

I do have 2 suggestions when redoing old sewing baskets, wear a mask when removing the old trim, it's got decades of dust waiting to escape ;)
The second tip is don't over stuff the inside of the lid. It won't close properly.
I used a combination of Tacky glue and a glue gun.

I made both of my grand girlies their own sewing baskets, .. Soleil uses here's as a sewing basket and Jada uses hers as a "stow-a-way basket to hid money, trinkets etc.

After all, seeing baskets aren't just for sewing...lol!
