OMGeepers! I swear, It takes my longer to clean hup my garden then planting it!!!
I am up to my eyeballs in dirt... and discovered I have a resident mole/Voll or gopher in my garden, thank goodness for raised container beds (old metal water trough.
But the critters have done damage to my strawberries which are not in the container..
Also,, this year my 2 grape vines did awesome!! except.. the Nursery label/tags on the vines is Not what the grapes are! supposed to be seedless... NOT!!! they are small sweet and have 2 seeds in each.. If I knew how to make wine... I probably could harvest enough grapes to make 1 bottle of wine!! lol!
Well, break time is over.. back to my garden!

Sounds like everyone had a successful garden this year and I totally understand not wanting to clean it all up. It is always easier to begin the garden than to totally put the area to bed.
Krista, your peppers are beautiful! Those colors!!
Down here the fall gardens are already humming along. Lots of dark green leafy veggies like collards, mustard greens, kale and other salad greens are humming along now that the air has been drier and nights cooler. Finally!!

Concerning pics of the snow, yes I did get one, but I am not very tech savvy about downloading/uploading etc. Much better in the garden & in the kitchen than on the computer!!! Sigh . . . |

Grace, I'm with you... feels like it always takes long to clean up and clear out than it does to plant... perhaps the planting part harbors so much excitement, time flies when we're having fun. :-) Krista, your harvest is gorgeous!

Well those “few snowflakes here & there” turned into a winter storm advisory-cold & windy with already about 2-3 inches on the ground & trees coated. My kale plants look like miniature Christmas trees! BUT forecast is for 70 degrees on Sunday! Oh, & believe me, if I thought the pumpkins would make it, I would send one to each of you!!! |

Garden clean-up just about done here in Northern Michigan. Cold lately with rain & a few snowflakes here & there. I ended up harvesting about 15 - 18 pie pumpkins! Wow! I took a picture of all of them & sent it to my girlfriends, saying that if they didn’t help me out by taking a few, they could no longer be my friends ;)! Some had never prepared pumpkin from scratch (just from a can), so I shared a prep tutorial. So far I have made one pie; muffins & bread on the schedule. Will be freezing lots, to be sure! |

Our last round of green bean picking netted us 6 pounds of green beans. We were very happy! They are headed to the canner! :)

That's what I have been doing as well. I also took out the insides and froze them whole to make stuffed peppers. I was starting to run out of room and hadn't even finished my carrots or zucchini so I had to give the rest of the peppers to my mom and mother in law. Sadly all my cucumber plants died so I don't have any either.

Krista,, your yellow & orange Bells look wonderful!
I Julianne strip cut my Bells (toss the seeds and veins) and freeze them, I freeze them in small quantities into small zipper bags then put the little (sandwich size) bags into a large freezer zipper bag to protect from freezer frost.
Then through out the year they are ready for stir frying, or sauces and salsa..
Unfortunately this was not a good year for my Bells nor my cucumbers.. but, there is always next year!!

Our super cold nights are setting in so I had to finish picking my peppers. I ended up with 3 large buckets full. I have been trying to freeze them all. It's a bit time consuming but I'm so happy I'll have it all this winter. As far as the rest of the garden it's going to have to wait a little while. Count me in as a garden slug!

If not cleaning out the garden makes me a garden slug, then yes, I am a garden slug! Lol. We are still harvesting tomatoes and green beans! :) My geraniums, marigolds, and black eyed Susan’s are all still blooming too. :)

OK,, I should have had my garden cleaned up and cleared up by now,, but,, I just didn't have the heart to,, I still have lots of Bees,, visiting...and flowers blooming.. My Borges, Morning Glories, Lavender, Calendulas and yes even cherry tomatoes are still producing...... so I will hold off until next week...
Anyone else being a Garden Slug besides me??? heeheehee!

I agree with you Heather! Making grape juice is a lot of work. I actually stopped making it because I’m not a fan of grape juice. My father in law gives us one of his cans for the kids, but I would love if I could make some wine.

Pack rats here. I got two in the live traps and 5 mice in snap traps. And I am with you Grace longer to cleans up than to plant.

If making wine is as much work as making grape juice you'll need a couple bottles to get through making one LOL! My grapes did awesome this year too but man it was a lot of work squishing and straining all of them!!
I hope your strawberries pull through. We have raccoons that like to help themselves to our garden :(
