Friday night and Saturday morning we had a pretty intense wind storm. Gusts in the area were consistently in the 40 mph range but getting as high as 55-70 mph. We lost power about midnight and it wasn’t restored until 8:30 am. We were blessed that our structures including our fence were damage free. Our trees on the other hand took a hit. John and I worked for about 4 hours to get it all cleaned up.

Whew - that was a close call!!! So glad there was no damage. That's amazing that your husband makes wooden spoons! I need someone with that talent in my family :)

I’m feeling so blessed by “our mess of branches” seeing the damage others had. John has a small wood stove in his workshop. He will use some of the wood there. He also turns and carves spoons so he will use some of the wood for that. It won’t go to waste. :)

Karen,
Wow, those windstorm can be bad. Sorry you lost your trees. Glad you are safe and no damage was down to anything else. Do you have a fireplace or woodstove you can burn the wood in? At least you would get use out of it.

We had a windstorm like that last Wednesday. They are always so scary and I’m afraid to see the damage they cause the following morning. I’m so sorry it caused so much damage to your trees. I looks like you had quite the mess. I’m glad all your structures were safe and you guys were too. Hopefully no more windstorms.

Wow Karen, that was some wind storms you had! It is heartbreaking to lose trees or have them severely damaged. So very glad though that your home wasn't damaged. We've had very strong gusting winds here in the Chicago area. Some of the trees were damaged in our town and there were quite a few sticks and branches down. Fortunately that was the extent of our damage here. I sincerely hope you won't be experiencing anymore windstorms!
