Karen's thread about bobbin winders got me thinking......What is your favorite sewing notion that you use or have? I have a felt holder my sister gave me. It is pretty and holds a small scissors, needles and a little pocket that holds a small measure tape. I grab that all the time when hand sewing. All the tools are right there. I love the led light strip that I put on my old phaff sewing machine. Wow does that brighten up the sewing area. I did get an led bulb for my featherweight, and that is marvelous too.

I have my mom's Singer sewing machine and I love it. She sewed for all of us kids and our kids plus numerous neighbors.
I think it is from the 40s because that is when they married. Not sure because she also made her wedding dress. I have her dress she made it from curtains. You'd never know it though.

This little organizer from a farmgirl (thanks Julie!) has made things so much easier to find:

I had a bad habit of leaving things on the ironing board or cutting mat and never knowing where they are. Now everything is handy when I need it. And I actually do put things back now!

I got this doodad from a traveling craft box. You can load up to 10 needles with thread, swirl them around, then pull one out when you need it. Very handy.

I have my Mom's old Singer 1957 sewing machine and when she gave it to me it had all her pins, various threads, pin cushions, scissors , thimbles and all the parts and booklet that go with the machine. I just love having all of it because it reminds me of my Mom sewing for us and also teaching me how to sew on the machine when I was 12 years old.

You are right Wanda Sue it is a wooden sock darner, I have a few as I have been collecting for years. I am learning too as it seems so simple. I live learning something new.

You are welcome Debbie, so glad you are enjoying it! My favorite thing is the “wooden knob thingy” that Debbie included in my tin of the same swap. It’s for darning socks I believe, which is something I have always been intrigued with. I will have to Google it to learn how it’s used, but I have a growing collection of socks that are perfectly fine except for a hole in the heel. Seems a shame to throw them away. One day soon I will give it a try. Wish me luck!

My favorite sewing notion in my sewing/craft room is my sweet sewing tin that Wanda Sue put together for me when we had our Haberdashery Swap a year or so ago that April hosted for us. That box has been my go to sewing tin since I got it, it was filled with many if my favorite things that are so useful to me everyday, a true treasure for sure!
Thank you again Wanda Sue and April for such a fun swap.
