Today is finally bee install day. I picked up the girls on Friday. It was a high of 32 that day, too cold. Yesterday was a high of 42. Too cold. Today it is supposed to warm up to 58. Perfect. Once it gets to 50 or so, I will put them in their new home. They will be so happy and I will bee too.

This is an awesome thread. Thank you for sharing. I have considered bees, but this is as far as I have gotten with it. Keep up the great work. Thanks again for posting!

I checked each frame yesterday and things are looking good. Capped workers, capped drones, and eggs. The queen is doing her job well. They are bringing in lots of pollen now. The dandelions are starting to bloom here and whatever else they are finding. They have ate some of their pollen patty and I did give them a little more sugar syrup. Bee Happy!!

Glad things are going well so far with the bees Michele. Hopefully the bees will thrive and share their honey with you this summer.

I checked on the bees three days after installing and the queen was out of her cage. Since then we have had rainy rainy weather. I did do a quick check about a week later and added another hive box. Now I will pick a nice day and do a more indepth check. I did see some brood earlier, so the queen was laying. I have been using probiotics for the bees for a few years, and it does seem to help them out.

I got one package of bees. They were getting settled in and found a few venturing out into their new world. In a couple days I will check and make sure the queen is released. Fingers crossed all goes well.

Yay! Mine will be here in a week or two. I’m trying to get my apiary foundation finished. How many hives did you get?
