So as I am cleaning along in my home, it's been put upon my heart to donate all of my fancy clothes. I am keeping just 1 winter dress and 1 summer dress, that could be used for fancy occasions, which are rare for me. I have 1 pair of kitten heels. The rest is all being donated. I had someone asking on my FB page for items for the local crisis center, so off this will all go. I have 3 large bags. I read about something about being compelled in one of Jen Hatmaker's book (I can't remember which) where they were at a church I believe and they were asked to give something to help and they gave them their brand new boots, right off their feet..sorry bad simplifying of a beautiful story. :)

It is so freeing to look in my closet and see progress and see simplicity. I don't have to think about what I am choosing to wear, just go with it.

Again, Rachel Ashwell also has influenced me. I keep this posting and look at it weekly to be inspired...

I am also working on coming up with a simple, cotton dress pattern. I have been working on this for almost 6 months. I want something that can stand up to the Texas heat and can be cute with boots or flip flops and it must have pockets. :)

And it just feels dang good!!!

I've been giving a lot of clothes and other items to any one of our local thrift stores. Just keep going through stuff.
When my daughter was here in June, she helped my get a LOT of clothing, both mine and hubbies, including shoes, together and we hauled them to the thrift.
I don't need fancy stuff either, Heather!

Silhouette patterns are sized and fit by cup size. Peggy Sagers has show Fit to Stitch using them. They work well for me.

Enjoying the day!

Try to find a pattern with princess seams. They curve right over the breasts and are very flattering.

I read you Heather! De stashing, de clothing etc ... you name it just feels great to get it out. Let someone else make use of it. To me, it's stagnant energy that has just been liberated! lol

Heather if your area gets PBS Channel 13 out of Dallas they have a sewing show on Sat mornings about sewing and fitting clothes. I watch it occasionally even though I no longer sew for myself.

Winnie-I am not a seamstress in anyway but I am working on it. I have searched and searched and the problem is, I am a girl with curves. Straight cut dresses, especially across the bust and hips do not work for me. The A-lines make me feel like a tent. Trying to figure out how to put some easement in without making it balloon. I will figure it out!!!

What a big step you made, Heather! I know how freeing it can be when you make up your mind to change things up for a new pathway. Let us know if you come up with that dress pattern for everyday wear too. I could use that idea for down here in steamy Florida. What an awful summer we have had with temps above normal for the past 20 days and sporadic rain.

Good for you! I know that I have stuff that I'm keeping "just in case" and have probably outgrown.
