I have had 2 canning days this week. Day 1 resulted in 34 qts of whole green grapes. Today resulted in 50 qts of pineapple chunks.
I am bone tired!
Jeff is bringing home pizza tonight- I am just too tired to cook and we just got the kitchen clean!

Blessings, Debra

Wow Debra, you have been busy. I have only put up some peaches, squash and green beans. Our garden is small. My biggest chore every year is tomatoes and we will put up many quarts at a time. It will exhaust you. Take a break! Eat pizza and put your feet up and relax.

It's wonderful to see all that hard work looking so pretty. You enjoy that pizza. I have canned lots of things but never pineapple or grapes.

Put your feet up and have a great day,

Becky

Holy cow Debra, what a ton of work!! I'm ashamed to tell you what I accomplished today...a whole nine jars of black currant jelly!
Put your feet up and relax...you certainly earned it!

So far this summer I have only canned jam and soups, and meats ...most of our harvesting and canning happens in August and Sept here. Especially this year!! Some years there are cherries or apricots early..but the late frost made sure there arn't any of THOSE local this year. Even my appel trees only have a few on them this year. I will have to buy apples to can. The plum trees are full of little ones though..weird.
You sure deserve pizza after a hot day canning in the kitchen... I enjoy all the jars lined up too...good job!

WOW! I've never canned either grapes or pineapple, burt you go girl! We just picked some apricots from our tree today, but I don't think I'll really have enough to can. You know how it is...you decide to eat one apricot and minutes later you have eaten three! Yum! I'm holding out to make Mullberry jelly and apple pie filling. Sad veggies this year. Not enough to can or freeze, just eating as they come.

Congratulations! My garden is just now giving enough to start canning. So far, 36 jars of green beans. Tomorrow - Zucchini w/tomatoes and Swiss Chard. I have never canned grapes or pineapple, but remember a very funny story from childhood. My mother canned grapes, stored some of them in a cupboard above the sink and forgot about them. They fermented and exploded leaving quite a mess all over the kitchen. Do you grow your pineapple or buy it?

Sharon - I just found out I have mulberries. Would you share your recipe? It's too late for this year, but would love to use them next year.

Shirley, I was given the pineapple. The kids have already opened up a jar of the grapes and loved them- I canned them in water and they tell me the juice was quite good..
