*************************UPDATE 10-21-09*****************************
Hi Ladies - Just want to touch base with you all. Sally has notified me that she has mailed hers, so as soon as I get them I will mail a package to each of you whom I have received from. Thanks!
************************UPDATE***************************************
Would anyone be up for a mini half apron swap??? I came across a thread here on the site where the senior farmgirls do these and was wondering if anyone else would be interested? I looked online and found one picture, but it belongs to someone and I don't want to copy it and get in trouble. Does anyone have a picture of one that they could post as a sample. They are just the sweetest and soooo small. They look to be about the size of the palm of your hand (maybe a little bigger). I was thinking it would be fun to incorporate a bit of the signature block swap from quilting into it. Say maybe have the fabric be light enough so that we could sign our name, write our city and state, and date the apron as a keepsake of our fellow farmgirls. You could even include your farmgirl number.
I've been the mama of many other things, but not yet a swap. I would love to try it!!!! I was thinking the simple rules could be as follows:
1. Have a date to end sign-ups. (or should we only sign up the first so many since we would be making that many aprons? But how fun would it be to receive many mini aprons from around the states from our fellow farmgirls. I'm up for the challenge of making many, would you be? (I am a single mom and work full-time, but know I can do it!!! Like that confidence?? )
2. Have a strict date to have aprons due at my house. I know that life happens, but we all put time and effort into these great swaps and there should be a definite end in sight. If for some reason someone has to excuse themselves along the way, no problem, but the rest of us can still make the initial amount and will have a couple of extras to give away or whatever we decide on. I don't think there will be that many though.
3. Send your completed aprons to me, along with a self addressed postage paid return envelope or little box. You know, the post office has $4.95 flat rate small boxes or envelopes. They say you can stuff them 'til your hearts' content and still only pay $4.95. Why send first class/parcel post when for a little more we can get them sooner and start enjoying them? That's the way I feel, at least.
4. I will post when each is received and will get them back into the mail within five days of when they were due to me. We just need to make sure they get to me on time that way I can get them back out to you on time. I will post the day they go out!! (I have a wonderful 17 year old daughter who gets suckered into helping me with all my swaps and creative ideas. I can just see her eyes rolling as I type.) But she still loves me!!!!
What do you all think? Any interest? Please let me know!!!

Hi ladies,
No theme for this one. Let's make sure that the fabric is light enough that when you use a permanent marker to write with that it shows our name and information for all to see. I am pesonally going to frame mine. I know exactly where they will hang.
Thank you soooo much for the samples. I am soooo looking forward to this.
PS - I have never done this before, so I was wondering if there is a pattern online for the little apron part. I am not real good at just "winging it." Any information would be helpful.
Consider this the official sign up and let's see how many we can get and if it would be worth our while. Sound like a plan???
Have a good day!

Hi Michelle,
You can count me in. :o) Have you seen the Simplicity pattern #2748 of mini vintage patterns. If we do this I will problably use that unless we can find a free online one.
Also, my mom and I are working on your Halloween aprons this afternoon! :o) Pics to follow on the Apron swap later today!
Hugs...
Sally

PLEASE DON'T THINK ANYONE HAS TO USE THIS PATTERN. I just posted the pic because someone mentioned it.

It is larger than a Barbie doll would wear... fits a regular size dish soap bottle.
Ribbon makes a nice waistband if ya are looking for quick and easy.

We made them for holidays and the best ones were for Christmas and Halloween...some very ornate.
The light colored with signature is a good idea! I'd love to join...even after saying I had plenty of mini aprons! They look so good strung together like a garland. I also hung lots of individual minis with little clothespins (bought at craft stores) on my kitchen curtains and in the laundry room.

Hi all,
I'd be interested but it depends on when the due deadline is - did I miss that in one of the posts?
Thanks! FarmGirlWishes |

Hi ladies,
I've got you all. How about a deadline of having the aprons in the mail on or before October 15th. Since they will be mailed flat rate priority, I should get them within two to three days. Does that give us enough time from now until October 15th to create our treasures?
Have a good day!

Hi there,
I'm trying to make my own pattern but I'm not sure if the size is right. Its 3 x 5. What size is everyone else making? Or is anyone planning on using the Simplicity pattern?

Also I'm planning on using ribbon for the waistband but I didn't have any in the house.
Thank you, Sally |

Oh I forgot to ask - where should the name area be placed? on the front or on the back?
Thanks! |

Like it Sally!!! Whatever size you make is fine. I would like to see the written area on the front of the apron that way everyone can see which farmgirl friend made it clearly. Where ever on the apron you see fit.
