Judy,
Don't ever be afraid to do what you need to do for Mama. Just because someone has MD behind their name doesn't make them smart, ethical, compassionate etc. Just sayin! Take her to the ER and call her Doctor and tell the office she is on her way there because she is having difficulty maintaining proper nourishment. Tell them to document same. You may get a quick response. As for draining it, it is more than likely a solid tumor and can't be drained. I have seen this type of tumor. Poor Mama. It's hard to lay and sometimes their ears hurt. Does she have pain meds? Liquid would be best. Praying!

Peggy,
Beautiful Grands! Thank You Jesus!

PTammy,
I'm coming too! Move over Peggy, I need to get in too!

TLT,
Prayers for your Mama too!

Heather,
Any Babies yet? Pictures please. How many do you have?

Bunny,
Proud of you for all your determination with college! It will liberate you and bye bye Mama! Hello California! You go girl!

Love and Peace to all of you.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,
Darlene

My poor youngest son's girlfriend just broke up with him. He is in North Carolina right now in Helicopter Mechanic school for the Marines. She was having a hard time being away from him. In a few weeks, he will get his permanent base station assignment. We are hoping for Mirimar, CA. But he could just as easily stay in North Carolina or be sent to Hawaii. Either way, the relationship is probably not going to survive. We all really liked her too. He is pretty sad. But he said he was going to go talk to another buddy for support. They all deal with it sometime or another.

Hello Porchies!!
I've been away for a few weeks. Allergies have been kicking my butt. I've come to realize that I'm allergic to KY in the spring. LOL! I have some local honey that I'm going to try using. I've heard a lot of people say that it's the best thing for seasonal allergies.

Bunny~ Unfortunately that happens to a lot of guys in the military. I always believe that these girls need to understand what our guys in the military are going through. They can't always be there like they want them to. That's just part of it. I feel bad for him. Hope he's o.k. The perfect girl is out there for him who will learn how to handle it. Who doesn't like a guy in uniform anyways? :)

Well, I've started a blog. Tonight I had trouble out of it. I wanted to load a picture and it was being stubborn. It's call Soul 2 Soul Ministries. I've been reading a lot on Proverbs 31:10-31 and Titus 2. Those verses just lay on my heart and I want to teach others about it. So far I've only got two posts but it's still a work in progress. Any other bloggers who can help navigate blogger please advise. :) Would love to hear from you. Here's my blog address: www.soul2soulministries01.blogspot.com

Well, it's late and I need to head to bed. Just wanted to say howdy from KY. Have a blessed day!!

RoDonna

Judy really you are June? Well then I have enough time to get things in order for my tea...hahahahahahha for some reason I thought I was JUne. Yikes! Thanks for clearing that up. My teacher brain is still a bit muddled.
Mom's surgery went well. I have spent the past two days with her and she was able to get around on crutches today. She was bossing me around so I decided that was a very good sign she is slowing mending.

We had terrible storms last night. We had hail in some places the size of baseballs and torrential rains and high winds. We had two big branches barely miss our house. All of my hubbys family lost their crops. In some fields you can't tell what was planted. So sons will be busy helping replant. I have never seen a storm like this. It started at 2 in the afternoon and went until wee hours of the morning. It was scary. Today I cleaned up mom's yard and boys worked on ours. Glad today was calmer.

well I am off to change laundry. Was missing yall here on the porch.
love to you all

Hello gals! Good to see you RoDonna, it has been awhile.
TLTammy, Yup...I am June! hahaha I figured it would be easy to remember because Dave & I celebrate our 8th anniversary the 20th of this month.
So, ya, you have more time. Doesn't THAT feel good? Sometimes being wrong is a good thing, huh? hahaha Really sorry to hear about those awful storms, girl. To lose all those crops...how tragic. Glad you are all safe!
Well, FINALLY, Mama has her first treatment, tomorrow at 1:15...and 1:15 every day for a month, Mon thru Fri. I sure hope she does well. She said today to keep the Prayers going Heavenward for her. She's tickled with all your cards still coming in too. Thank You Porchies! You are the best and we both love you more than mere words can say!!! Dave has a 2 week vacation starting in 2 weeks and he can help drive her. Patsy & Jim can help some too. We'll get thru this...Lord willing!
I worked in the yard weeding today to release some stress. There's nothing better to put a feller right than tugging on a stubborn weed til you're red in the face, and I had plenty of them to tug. I was red-faced, sweat running down my nose and wore out....but it was just what the Dr. ordered!!! Boy did the shower, shampoo and shave feel great after too. hahaha...feel like a lady again! heehee
It started raining right after I came in at 3 PM and it's still raining at bedtime, and the temp dropped into the 50's from high 70's with humidity. WOW!
Well,I'm all in for today.
Nite Buds!

RoDonna...enjoyed your Blog Posts. Keep going girl you are doing good!

Teacher Tammy...so sorry about all the Storms and crop loss. That is awful!
I saw pictures of what that Storm did in Nebraska... and thought about what you
had described too. Just Awful!!
Glad that your mom is doing better and also glad to hear that I'm not the only
one with a bossy mom.

Judy...praying for your dear sweet Mama. I agree with your comment about physical
activity being just what the Dr. Ordered. That is what I love about walking. I speed
walk and boy does that do the trick for me too. NOT that I have the Stress Load that
you do Sweet Friend...because I don't. I continue to pray for ALL of you. Glad that
Dave has the time off coming up and that Patsy and Hubby will be able to help too.

Bunny...it is so hard when our boys get their hearts broken isn't it? Said a couple prayers
for him and his mama too. I just couldn't hardly cope with my boys after break-ups...I
hated to be the one to have to bandage the broken heart.

Judith...have you had a chance to start the book yet? Hope it is a good read for you.

Talking about walking...I was trying to keep Snickers from stopping to pee on a bush
this morning (he thinks he has to pee on every bush, pole, and basket ball hoop stand)
and like I say I walk fast...so, the next thing I know my foot is rolling on something
and down I went onto the pavement. I took the impact on my right knee and hand. Once
I got myself up...I see a 6 inch long, tree branch that has had all the bark removed...making
it slicker than snot. I picked it up and threw it...just to help me regain some dignity.
*smile* didn't help. Well, you know what they say...tomorrow and the next day I will
start stiffening up. I put Arna-care on it as soon as I got home...but I leave for
Seattle in the morning for a three day wknd with little Naomi and Madeline. I decided that
I didn't want to miss Naomi's birthday again this year. She needs her grandmama there or
she will begin to think I favor Madeline and Elijah over her and that is just not true.
I love them one and all.

Well, need to start packing and keep moving so this leg will continue stay limber.

Have a good weekend girls!!!

Hugs,
Peggy

Well...... false alarm.... tomorrow is her first treatment, today was her final mask fitting. Grrrrr...
Thanks for the Prayers anyhow, gals.
Patsy has a cold and sore throat. Never fails. Her daughter and SIL smoke and that plus all the rain and cold we've had has made it sniffle season. Can't be around Mama with that! *sigh*
Peg, I'm happy for you that you get to go play with those young-uns again. Can't believe you fell. "klutz" hahaha
Have a good evening gals.

Guess What? The Ol' Klutz doesn't get to go to Seattle after all. Did you ever get the gut
feeling that you aren't suppose to go do something even if you want to???? Youngest son called
while I was packing and said that he just got paid and once he paid his bills it was either
buy groceries for the next two weeks or make the trip to Seattle. Well, that was a NO
BRAINER girls. I've been in that situation many times over the years myself. I took the spending
money that I had but aside for the wknd and hubby and I took it to his office and gave it to
him to help out his little family. This is the son that has helped Larry and I out so many times in
past ourselves and he has loaned other family members money when they needed help.

I also pulled a groin muscle when I fell...and after several hours...had to take pain medication
for my entire body was groaning in protest. Yeah Judy...I hear ya say, Let the Dog Pee wherever
he wants...stupid girl. LOL

So, see...maybe there was a good reason for mama NOT starting that Treatment today after all.
You never know what God is sparing us from. Maybe He is keeping us from a Car collision on the
road this weekend on the way to Seattle. You just never know what He is sparing us from.

I'm out on my Porch and the wind is coming up and I'm freezing...so, back in the house to make
a cuppa tea or coffee. Also, some crazy person is setting off Fireworks in the Neighborhood.

Judy...loved the Jaque Lawson Card. Sooooooooooooooooo Cute!

Hugs,
Peggy

Thanks for that Peg. Sometimes I need a reminder that GOD is in control... especially when I want something so badly for my Mama... ya know?
She's just so lifeless and miserable... not that radiation is a cure for that... quite the opposite, I'm afraid.
Getting ready to go pick her up. Prayers Please!
Peg, email me your son's address please. I want to send him a card.
Thanks!
Cold here last night too... and windy. 50 I think they said. Brrrr 70's today... sunny.

This summer is already speeding faster then a bullet and it's just staring! I've hardly had time to do anything it feels like. I did steal some time Saturday evening and worked on the rug loom again. It's definitely not as quick as crocheting the rugs.

Oh, book recommendation! M*'s mom sent me "The Dahlia Lama's Cat" a Novel by David Michie. Awesome book for cat lovers especially.

Leave it to men (sigh). M* has a friend he grew up with that lives in CA but has a cabin in MN so they've been planning on our going there to visit this summer. They haven't seen each other in like 10 years but talk several times a week. M* just "assumed" that we would be staying in one of the cabins. Thankfully he mentioned it to his buddy to discover that there's only a one room cabin left standing, the other one is falling apart. Since we didn't get the camper I wanted for such visits like this, we've had to scramble to get camping gear together for our 4th of July trip. I lucked out and found a tent just like the one we had in Michigan on an online yard sale and talked her down to $60 (new $140+). M* asked around work and found an inflatable mattress for $45. At least we have the basics now and won't be sleeping out in the open on the ground LOL. He picked up a Coleman lantern Saturday at a garage sale and we just need to get new mantles for it.

We're pretty set on the trip to Italy. Trying to figure out when to go. I need to do more research and see weather wise when it's better. We're thinking October or November 2015. It would be a great birthday (mine) and anniversary present of our first date (it will be 7 yrs) trip if we go in November :O)

BFTammy - Sorry to hear about the damage out your way. We had really bad storms last week too. Actually had 3 tornadoes touch down around town, one about a mile away from us. It was a scary night to say the least. Fortunately most of the crops here have just been planted so it didn't damage anything.

Peggy - Adorable grandbabies! I'm sure the fall probably aggravated your fibro. Hope you feel better soon. I have a woman I know in PA whose 6 year old daughter appears to be showing signs of fibro already. I don't remember which one of her specialist it was but he said he thinks its caused by all the chemicals in the food. They also told her to have her daughter start wearing bras as she's developing already at 6 years of age!

Judy - you would probably like weaving. It's very relaxing especially once you get into a rhythm. If I'm outside and can listen to nature I can weave okay but maybe it's because it's been so hectic I can't quiet my mind unless I have music or listen to the tv while I'm weaving. Keeping your mama in my prayers.

Bunny: Thanks for the tips on tagging. I'll definitely keep it in mind. Congrats on the sales! That's awesome. It's one of the items on my to-do list is to check into the Square and those type of devices to see if I want to offer credit card payments if I decide to do craft shows.

Heather: Yes, the large ones are called looms also. The one I have is called a frame, twining or lap frame loom. There are no heddles like the large ones have. I bought a 3 piece set which includes a placemat frame and rug frame then you can take the sides of the rug frame with the ends of placemat frame and make a table runner frame.

Hi, farmsisters...I'm just on for a minute. My son had his brain aneurysm surgery yesterday. Doctor said it went well. They were able to replace the piece of skull right away instead of a couple of weeks. BP and fever was high so they moved him to icu in the night. Things are looking better now. We may be able to ta (e him home on Thursday. Thank you so much for your prayers. Son John says Thank youtoo. Will keep you posted

Hi Girls...I'm in a Purple Mood Today!! (Everyday really! LOL)

Judith...so glad sons surgery was successful..will continue to pray that he has no complications. Brain surgery
has got to be one of the scariest surgeries...I'm mean come on...it's the brain and it affects your entire body in
one way or another. I hope your fibro didn't flare too badly from all the stress of that. Praying for you too.
Had to laugh at the comment about your huge Knitting/crocheting/nook/book bag...that is always what I do when
a family member is in the Hospital too. Your mind needs a diversion so you go prepared to whittle away a lot of
hours...and yet your mind is so maxed out from all the worry and stress that you don't feel like doing any of it.
But you have it all...just in case. We didn't learn the Girl Scout Motto "Be Prepared" for Nothing did we????
Or was that Boy Scouts??? (I did raise three boys you know)*giggle*

Judy...I can hear the tiredness and worry in your comments girl. I wish I was there to give you a little break and a huge hug.
I think you are about as maxed out and overwhelmed as you could be or should be. I am so sorry. It is a good
thing God made us Women The Strong Ones. But when you don't feel strong any more...let Jesus carry your load girl.
Thanks for wanting to send my son a card...but right now you have enough on your plate...girl. I love you for the
thought and desire though.

PG Tammy...I think the human growth hormones they feed chickens, cows and even plants has affected both the Fibro/MMS
...and all Auto-Immune Disorders. But also our children and Grandchildren. When I look at my 3 yr. old grand-daughter and
she is just a head shorter than her six year old sister (who is also tall) and these girls eat healthy everything...
I still worry that they are still ingesting hormones in some of their foods. Most women from my generation are between
4ft 11 and 5ft 4 inches tall. But I look at most women in there 30's and 40's today and they are between 5ft 7 and 6ft.
And their children are going to be bigger than they are...when they are grown adults. And now look at this...a six year
old needing a bra??? And it isn't unusual for 8-10 year olds to start their periods when in my era girls almost always
started around 12 years old.

Well, I have had a couple of wonderful weeks with no rain...now it is returning for abut 5 days. I am starting to feel it
today. Trying to ignore it though. My aches and pains from the fall are gone. I must not have pulled the groin muscle too badly because I didn't feel it after two days.

My husband wants to go to Bend this Friday to see our daughter in law...from Spokane. But Bend has raging fires going on
so, I don't know if that will change our plans or not. Both her and our oldest son need our encouragement though. So, I
am sure we will probably try to go.

OK...off to get something done.

Have a Lovely Day Girls,
Peggy

Hi gals! 2 notes of JOY:
1)I mailed your teas out today! *weeeee* hahaha
2)Mama's face is noticeably smaller. 2 days of radiation have started it to shrink. Praise God!!!
You know I mean well Peg...but thanks for understanding. I just thought he needed a card.
I love all the purple flowers. So vivid.
Judith, I am so happy that the surgery went well. Praying for a complete recovery.`
We are having scads of rain-clouds today but so far, no rain. My sinuses are letting me know that it's coming though.
Well, that's all for now.

hello ladies,
Peggy I am in love with the purple but then that is my favorite color.
Judy glad things are looking up with your sweet mama and can't wait to get your tea.
Judith hope your son continues to heal.

It is a beautiful day here in Nebraska. My sweet grandson is spending the week with us. He is watching Mickey MOuse right now. I forgot how much energy a 4 year old can have. let us just say we all sleep well at our house..hahahhaha but just love him to pieces.

I am teaching myself how to crochet a dishcloth with a new stitch. Not sure how it will turn out but I figure the more I practice the better it will be. I just need some small projects. Can't and don't want to do any big projects right now. Never did finish the afghan...just put it aside...maybe I will one day finish it.

well I am off to make some muffins and have a cup of tea,
love to you all

Good Afternoon My Lovelies...

I have been out busy with a little odds and ends shopping for a Swap.
It is another gorgeous day here but the rain is coming. Both husband and I
feel the aches and pains together now. His is from arthritis in his lower
back from being rear ended too many times over the years. ~ My hip started
throbbing while we were at Barnes and Noble today and then I forgot to put
the pain gel on when I got home...took the dog out for a walk and got half
way done and the pain was so bad I thought I might have to crawl the rest
of the way home. Now my shoulders, neck, feet and hands all hurt. It is a
bummer to have to feel the storm a couple days before it even happens.

Teacher Tammy...I have been doing some plastic canvas craft to take a break
from knitting...but you are right to switch over to washcloths because they
are quick and easy (well not always)and fun. You almost get instant gratification
from making them. I can do one an evening. And in the summer when it is hot
you don't have some huge project in your lap that is just making you hotter.
Four year olds have so much energy. Don't envy you that Grandma. That is when
I would get those sons of yours busy entertaining to give you some breaks.

Judy...I am happy to hear that mama is feeling some relief and the swelling is
going down with the treatment. Poor Lady...that is just too much to have to endure
at the end of one's life.

Darlene...nice to have you drop in for a quick minute on The Porch. Come back when
you can stay longer and fill us in on what all you have been up to.

I should go make myself some lunch and finish up on my project and do some laundry.
But I really don't feel like doing any of it. Reading sounds better.

Well, I am on season four of Downton Abbey. Then I am going to have to find another good
Antenna Tv series to watch. Any of you have a suggestion or two???

Have a good rest of the day girls. Take it easy and enjoy doing whatever you find to do.

Hugs and Smiles,

Hi gals, mixed weather today. Rain, breezy, sun,cloudy...we have it all. hahaha
My youngest nephew just left to go home to CA. He was here overnight to see his Grandma. We saw him a day when he flew in, then he went camping with the rest of his family. Of course Patsy got sick with a croupy cough and gunge, so will have to wait for her to get over that before we see her. Jim got it too, but got rid of it faster. Quiet here now. *sigh*
Dave and my Mama have really been bonding while he has been taking her to her appts. She said he offers her his arm as soon as she gets out of the car and she has told him a lot of stories about her life. Today she asked him what he was going to drill her on and he just said, 'wait and see.' They are both loving it. He said he couldn't believe that, growing up, she had no water 'cept a creek about 200 yards from the house, no heat 'cept firewood and no electricity but a windmill to provide enough energy to provide electricity for the radio so they could hear the news and Amos&Andy and The Lone Ranger, etc. That's a rough life. Could we do that? Probably not! Amazing! No wonder she has such a strong will to live and be a tough lady!
Well, I have some laundry to do.
Toodles!

Peggy, Mama said to tell you thank you for the beautiful card. She has enjoyed all the cards you gals have sent.
Thanks again!
TLTammy, what kind of muffins did you end up baking?

Got your teas and goodies. Brings back memories. Going to make the chai right now as I am freezing. Pie sounds good too! How's Mama? Still praying for all of you. Good for hubby for helping out. Keep us posted.

Making linguine with clams tonight. Bananas that need to turn into muffins or the morning and an orange cream sickle cake for hubby's sweet attack tonight. I'll leave some on the porch so you can relax and nibble.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing,

Afternoon ladies! Another whirlwind weekend - this one unexpected though. I received a phone call from my youngest son Jordon Wednesday evening asking if we had a spare room for him saying that he was ready to move out here with us. I assumed it would take him a while to sell his car and settle everything so figured middle of next month. Nope. Got a text last night he's arriving Tuesday!!! Gasp! Well so much for leisurely going through the guest room and rearranging it again to make room for him. Today has been a full on work day getting it ready and I did get it done. I'm proud of myself :O) I found a huge moving box with papers in it I'll have to work through this week and decide what to do with them. Out of site out of mind :O( I'm so excited to be seeing Jordon and having him with us. I just pray him and M* get along this time. Also my prayer has been answered hopefully for what to do with the pups when we go to Italy. Jordon showed somewhat of an interest in the trip so if he goes with us it would be back to finding someone to care of the pups again.

We did get some garage sales and thrift storing in yesterday and found some great deals. I picked up a Kindle at the pawn shop for $49. Now I can do the free loans through my Amazon Prime account. We found a meat grinder for $2, a telescope that he plans to use for siting at the shooting range for $1, and an owl picture for my owl collection for $5 to name a few.

Peggy - Loved those purple pictures! Beautiful. I'd hoped to bring in cuttings from my lilac but it seemed they were dead as fast as the bloomed. Our crazy weather probably had something to do with the short bloom duration. Sorry you didn't get to go see your son. It's such a let down when you want to do something and don't get to do it. My violas are pretty and purple in my deck planters.

Judy - glad to hear the radiation is working. Hopefully these treatments will be over soon and she'll start feeling better.

Heather - Losing posts here is so common I've started typing responses to people in the memo app and then copying over just in case it disappears.

Darlene - I hope to have fun camping. I miss it so much and that's why I want to get a camper. I'm getting a bit old for the tent thing. It's getting to hard to get up and down off the air mattress.

Well back to finishing up the guest room. Just need to mop it and put the bedding on once they're done. Pups go in for grooming tomorrow thankfully, There are chunks of fur all over the carpet. Have a great evening on the porch everybody!

Happy Blessed SonDay gals!
Darlene, Mama is feeling better and her appetite is coming back. That makes me feel a lot better to see her enjoy food again. She doesn't eat a lot at one time but it tastes good to her and that's a big deal!
PGTammy, we took my moms cat in and had him shaved so that she can deal with him better. He is embarrassed for about the first hour afterward. After we tell him what a pretty boy he is, ya, he starts strutting around again. Hahaha They even put a red bandana on him like they do dogs. He looked so cute. Plus he got a sample bag of food and 2 toys. He made out pretty good! hahaha
