once a year, my only sister, kathleen, comes home from thailand and we get to have a visit. she is only home for a month, and a very busy time for her, but she makes the trip up to the farm from her home in houston and we get a visit.

when she left i gave her a canvas bag with 2 seeester bunnies on it and an egg bag for her daughter in clear lake, that has our egg logo on it,"tender eggs from gigglin chickens."

so i have been working on some new sister memories and two keepsake bags for her to take home.

How sweet Frannie - hope you have a good visit.
I will be working on a felted bag that will be my mom's Christmas gift. My husband just got laid off again after a month and a half of work so it will be a homemade Christmas and I gotta get started now!!

I am working on finishing some cross-stitch ornaments I started a long time ago. One of is of chicken on her nest and the other is of a cardinal with pretty dogwood flowers all about her. I'll post a pic when I'm finished. :o)

Frannie those bags are adorable. Hope you and your sister had a fabulous
visit. I just visited my sister a week ago and she gave me a beautiful
Angel that lights up. Aren't sister's precious? Mine is dying and I will
miss her so much when she is gone.

Blessings,

Hi Sherone!

Yes, it's my own design. Although I found that flowers, trees and birds are pretty popular with quilters, lol. Thanks for the compliment!

I am working on preemie hats and matching blankets. And also a Mile a Minute afghan for my Mom for Christmas.

I love those totes. I am a huge rooster/hen fan.

Got old fashion towels to put Aunt Martha's on. Haven't decided which pattern to use yet.

Have a wonderful day.

It's been a while since I posted on this thread. Today I was working on a discloth for my Mom. I really want to start making them as gifts, though. Maybe for my Aunt and Uncle's wedding!

Today I worked on some Embroidery Red Work. It is a rather adorable fairy sitting on
a mushroom. I am doing 3 tea-towels all in Red Work. The 2nd one of the other two is
a Can-Can Girl and the 3rd one is Two Turtle Doves surrounded by Scroll-work and hearts.
These are my practice pieces to get back in to Embroidery which I haven't done in 30 yrs.
I am really enjoying it once again...but it is almost like re-learning a craft long
forgotten.

blessings,
~peggy

Last night I joined some sewing friends to help make pillowcases for charity. Brought a stack home to work on over the weekend. The quilt shop owner has a specific number of pillowcases she wants made by the end of June. She's provided all of the fabric, classroom space and snacks to those willing to sew. She's been such a great support to the quilt guild that we wanted to help however we could.

Wow! All of you have been very busy indeed!! It has been awhile since I have been on and even longer since I posted. Let's see, the latest things that have passed through my sewing room are: Several pieces of clothing. . . redesigns and new pieces, dolls, a couple of quilts, many baby blankets, a tractor seat, couple of leather jackets for new zippers and lots of mending! Needless to say, I am super happy and love being busy again!

Hi Joanna! How is the knitting going? I hope that you don't find it too difficult! Today I'm trying to finish up a scarf for my aunt's Christmas gift. I crocheted some Granny squares, and I only need to make two more. Then I can start stitching them together.
God's Blessings,

well, I seem to do okay with the knitting. . just need to continue practicing. . . the best part is all my "mistakes" work great in the kitchen sink!! LOL!!! Doing the dishcloths is nice, you can practice and actually finish something in a reasonable amount of time. Giggle, maybe some day I will get the "feel" for knitting and move onto something else. . . until then, I won't need to worry about needing something to wipe up a spill or dust something off since I will have plenty of dishcloths on hand!

I'm heading to the quilt club with my mom this morning. She's been great and got started on the quilt I needed for a wedding gift. My goal is to hand top stitch it, but we have lots of sewing to put more pieces together and more cutting too...

Hey Teresa:

I see that you are working on pillow cases - I have made 35 and submitted them to the local quilt shop. My personal goal is 100 by the end of the year. On Monday I put together a fannel baby quilt that I will also donate to the local quilt shop. At the end of the year they donate them to local community organizations.

It is so rewarding. Have a great day Farmgirls.

everybody is so busy ! I have the task of outfitting 17 Flag Corps uniforms with new trim plus sewing new flags for them. I am their advisor and am trying to save us money so we don't have to buy expensive uniforms if new trim will do. I hope it all gets done by summer marching band in August
