It was suggested that I post an introduction...so here I go.

I am a married 40 year old mother of 4 who lives with my family and our pet dog in Fort Worth, TX.

Wow, that first line you write about yourself really is telling. That's not who I am, that's what I am. Let me try again.

I'm a fun loving, easily amused and amusing woman who likes to learn from her friends and try new things and see if she can get them to work. In the past two years, I have started a flower garden which does well in the spring and summer but is pretty boring in the winter. I have tried and failed to start a compost pile, goign to continue working on that, and I have decided Girl Scouts is no longer doing it for me.

My 11 year old daughter is going to be participating in the Young Cultivators through her 4-H group, so I thought I might as well be a member also, and have fun with her. I'm hoping to include my 6 year old daughter in the experience as well. I guess much of my joy in belonging to this group will be doing things with them.

Right now I'm watching my friend's journey through chickens and learning some about composting.

I believe this summer I want to make bread and butter pickles just like I used to do with my Mom and this might be just the place to get good advice. I have the recipe, just need to find the time and courage to start.

So, that's me in a rather small nutshell.

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I can't wait to get further into it. It looks like Facebook may stop being my favorite place to be on the Internet.

So glad you posted and that you posted so sincerely.
Go for the bread and butter pickles, you will be so proud and cherish each bite.
I was born in Dallas. My mom still talks about the bread and butter pickles she made one summer and how she felt so special making them for the family.

You are right, I got more out of this site in 2 days than a year on FB.
Take good care,
Stephanie

Wow, life got in the way and I fell off the computer for awhile. Thanks to everyone for their welcoming ways. My friend is planting cucumbers in her garden this summer, so Bread and Butter Pickles are in my future.

Just installed (dug a hole and put it in there) my worm tower that I've had ready for a year or so. My garden was overrun with earthworms today while I was out there working in it and it was great to see because they used to be few and far between.
