Thank you all for the sweet comments.
I guess my heart is a Farm girl heart.
My work life included teaching school for 30 years, being nanny to my grand kids, starting a mother's day out program at a local church and changing it into a preschool, daycare, and after school program. We began with 14 little ones and when I left we had about 150 kids. I had cancer ten years ago and after that I did quite a bit of substitute teaching, which I really enjoyed.
I have chickens, and a border collie, my husband has a few horses... we live on 3 and a half acres, which is about 1/8th of a mile from our sons family.
My son is a building contractor and a farmer/ rancher. He has lots of horses and cows. Each day I go to his horse barn, clean it up and water the horses. I feed the three big dogs, which include Lacey the cow dog, Shadow the pit bull hood ornament, and Bear. I found Bear about 14 months ago, on the dirt road with a young cow. He was just a little pup. Now when he jumps up to get a hug, he is almost as long as I am tall, 5'7" . He has turned out to be an awesome guard dog...but when my son shows him an orphaned calf...he automatically knows that is his focus. He practices his herding skills on me every day. If you ever get near a great Pyrenees look at the way God groomed their coat. It is amazing to me!
I also enjoy gardening. Since we are getting older we are using raised beds. So far we have two old metal water troughs and a 16'x 4' bed. There are three more metal troughs that we need to move. Yesterday I planted six strawberry plants, and discovered some peppermint and cilantro, that is alive, even though we went down in the teens recently a couple of nights.
I have RA, and have had a lot of pain recently. On those days when I don't feel like doing a lot, I enjoy sewing.
I also have a DIL, two grand daughters and a grand son in law!
I hope this has helped you get to know me a bit better.
This has been such a nice month. God is just as ready for spring as we are.

Today, is April 1st! Time for a new Farm girl of the month. I choose Denise Thompson. She is a chicken keeper, a grandma, a wife and mother...she is also a really good hen house leader of the Scattered Prarie Gals hen house.
