Thank you all for the kind words and congratulations. You have all really lifted my spirits as we are having a gloomy and rainy start to our May here in the Chicago area. May has always been a special month to me with the trees leaves sprouting and the beautiful spring wildflowers popping up giving us a much needed color fix. Being named FGOTM has really lifted it to another level for me!
Have fun in Italy Winnie! Safe travels as you explore. I have a friend who lives in Milano, but is currently visiting Tel Aviv. He said the food there in Florence is superb.

Thank you Peggy for the kind words. I received a beautiful box of teas from Sara (Yellow Rose) this afternoon. I enjoyed a delicious cup with my son when he came home from school. It really hit the spot for us on this rainy and chilly day. Thank you Sara for such a perfect gift!

Thanks Grace. I did plant the morning glories in the front and back of my house. Hopefully they will take off soon. We've had a very wet and sometimes chilly spring so far.
A big thank you to Winnie (Red Tractor Girl) for the wonderful surprise I received in today's mail. Thank you for the beautiful wrapping, the fun cards for each gift and the gifts themselves. I know I keep saying this, but farmgirls truly are the best!

Another delightful surprise arrived in the mail for me! This fun package came from MaryJane's farm. I love the notecards and my husband is going to get a frame for my certificate. I can't wait to dive into the cookbook and start baking! Thank you all so very much for such thoughtful and fun gifts! Being FGOTM has been very special!

It is time to announce our new FGOTM for June! I have really enjoyed my being May's FGOTM and have been very touched by the generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness of so many terrific farmgirls here! Thank you again for all your well wishes, delightful surprise packages and to MaryJane's Farm for allowing us to continue to use this forum to gather together.
June's FGOTM is going to be my best friend and cousin, Michele (Windy Pines). Michele is a lifetime farmgirl. She grew up on a dairy farm and loved the farming life so much that she bought her own farm when she got married and is raising beef cattle. Michele didn't forget about her dairy roots though and also has a dairy cow in addition to raising a pair of sheep (Jack & Jill), chickens, and occasionally 3 piggies. Her shadow, Ruby, is quite the helper living up to her herding roots since she is a border collie. Michele has spent her life keeping the farming artesian crafting ways alive. She spins, dyes, and knits with her homegrown wool, sews beautifully and is a terrific baker & cook. She cans, freezes, dehydrates, and grows all her own produce. She has apple trees, vegetables gardens, and somehow finds time to go riding with her husband on their motorcycle. She's raised 3 terrific sons who have given her 6, going on 7, beautiful grandchildren. Michele has never met a recipe or craft that she wasn't willing to tackle. Over the years she has helped deliver more calves than she can count. On top of all this she has a full time job managing a HVAC office. Michele truly embodies the pioneering farmgirl spirit we all admire here on MaryJane's forum!
So I give you our new FGOTM for June, Windy Pines Michele! Congratulations Michele and I hope you have as much fun as I had being FGOTM!
