CBS Sunday Morning this morning featured a report was called "When Medical Implants Fail." My dad has a heart defibrillator, so this really hit home. I just really thought I should share the information in case you missed the program:

The manufacturer of these defibrillators, Guidant Company, has been bought out by Boston Scientific who expressed "no interest" in participating in this report.
There have been 26 deaths in a 3-year period due to failure of these implants, and the FDA hasn't done anything about it. You can read all about it in the article.
The article also discusses issues with hip replacement implants.
