I love the fresh cream in my coffee, but I also enjoy the flavored creamers. I'd like to make my own flavored creamers but the few little things I have tried flopped.
Do any of you have recipes or tips that have worked for making flavored creamer?
Thankx!

Hi Alicia
i tried the flavored creamer recipe in GLamping. basically it is one can of sweetened condensed milk, milk, and flavoring of your choice ( i think i went with vanilla) , mix and enjoy. i liked it. but as it uses SCM, and i am diabetic, i think i will use half-and-half next time maybe. i haven't tried it again, i am the only one that uses creamer at the house.

Thankx Charlotte. I'm using my fresh, raw cream from my Jersey cows. I'll have to play around some more.

Alicia, check out dollar tree stores, they had "sugar syrups" they are a flavored syrup for you lattes and stuff. You can purchase them at walmart and target but they run 3.50 a bottle, I would check the dollar store first. There are some out there that are organic. My favorites are carmel and vanilla.

Alicia,

Here are a couple of recipes without the Sweetened Condensed Milk.

Crystal’s Peppermint Mocha Coffee Creamer

2 cups half-n-half
1/3 cup baking cocoa
1¼ cups cane juice crystals
Peppermint extract

In a small sauce pan combine half-n-half, baking cocoa and cane juice crystals. Heat on medium, stirring with a wire whisk until everything has blended well and the cane juice crystals have dissolved, do not let this get too hot. Remove from heat and add a few drops of peppermint extract (add as much or as little as desired). Enjoy!

Pumpkin Pie Coffee
Crystal Miller

1 cup half-n-half
½ cup cane juice crystals (can use white sugar instead)
3T canned pumpkin
½ t vanilla
½ t cinnamon
¼ t ginger
1/8 t nutmeg
1/8 t cloves

Combine all ingredients in a small sauce pan. Heat until cane juice crystals dissolved and ingredients are well combined. Enjoy in a hot cup of coffee. Store in refrigerator.

Thankx Sharon, I'll give those a try!
I looked up once just *what is* half-n-half, so I could make it here, and I laughed. It's literally half cream and half milk. Hahahaha!!

You are welcome Alicia! I have tried some recipes with the sweetened condensed milk and they taste too much like the store bought to me.(Yes, I am a snob :)) I prefer it to be as natural as possible.

These are some of our favorites but they use powdered creamer instead of fresh.

Gingerbread
2 c. powdered creamer
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. each - ginger, nutmeg, cloves, allspice

Bavarian Mint
3/4 c. powdered creamer
1/2 c. cocoa
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract

Amaretto
3/4 c. powdered creamer
1 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. powdered sugar

I have a few other recipes also if you want them. I make them up and store them in canning jars. Just add a tablespoon or 2 to your cup. I don't drink coffee but we do use these for our hot chocolate buffet that we have set up all winter. I put hot chocolate mix in a large jar then various sized jars filled with marshmallows, candy canes, flavored mixes, etc. I set it on the counter with mugs, spoons, pkgs. of herb tea, flavored syrups and anything else we can think of to fix a warm drink. It takes up a section of precious counter space but is well worth it!
