Just finished my first afghan. I have crocheted for many years but never made one. The pattern called for a red background with cream colored snowflakes, but I decided to do a black background and white iridescent snowflakes. It will go with my Christmas decor and my bedroom and living room when Christmas is over. It took 70 squares to complete. I started in September and did a couple of squares a night. I stitched it all together last night and tonight. I just finished. Now I have to get to making some Christmas presents!

Diane I just love the Afghan. That's one thing I have never made. My Mom and Grandmother use to make them. I really like the black and white together. Did you follow a pattern or just use some type of granny squares you made up?

Dorinda,
I had a pattern from a crochet book I found at my Mom's house from the 70's!

Very Pretty. I love it. I wish i had the attention span to do and afgan. If a project is not done it under a week, I get bored and move on.

Thanks for posting.

Diane,
The afghan is beautiful. I think your choice of colors is
much better. I especially like the white. It pops out at
you and looks more snowy.

Beautiful afghan, Diane! I think your color selection and the sparkle makes it very unique. Good for you keeping it! I've never really kept anything I've made for myself..maybe I will think about doing something just for us.

That is absolutely beautiful! I also know how to crochet, but have not done it for years. I promised myself that I would start back this winter. I hope mine turns out as pretty as yours.

Diane, That is so beautiful, and the color selection is very contemporary. Thank you for sharing and also for motivating me to pick up my crochet needles again!
