I'm looking to re-purpose wool skirts and pants into handwoven rag rugs and was hoping that someone on the forum might have anything they want to get rid of. I'd be willing to exchange some of my wonderful hand-crafted soap in lieu of payment---

Thanks so much ....

Finished my first attempt at using Wool as weft for a large 50 inches long handwoven rag rug....I think it turned out very well. The old adage is true gals---"Practice, Practice, Practice!"

I'm not sure what I did with all my wool slacks when I moved. Let me look and see if I can find them. It will take a while - too hot here in Texas to look through boxes in the garage.

Just wool odds and ends-skirts, slacks whatever CJ....I want to weave some wool rugs and will be cutting any/all into strips. Any color-makes no never mind! You need a lot of that to make a decent sized rug.

Thank you CJ!

have you looked at Second-hand stores. You probably will find more of them in the fall/winter.

Linda, I bought my Union #36 loom last September then began refurbishing it...new heddles-the reed was rusty and there were missing pegs on the sectional beam-it was pretty wobbly and of course it would NOT fit into the house so we had to take it apart... and it was pretty dirty. I started reading about looms-bought a couple of books-watched many youtube clips and I started contacting weavers I met online who were lovely - smart and generous with their time and my incessant questions! Then....I began in earnest collecting what I needed to begin weaving-all the necessities of weaving including warp, shuttles, etc. I started weaving in January. So far I've completed a dozen rugs. I have about 5 or 6 listed in my store: longtallsallys@etsy.com the rest have been given away-my daughter, my sons, my MIL and just the other day my next door neighbors son (a sweet boy!) heading back to college.

Neat! You do very nice work.

I have several weaving/spinning friends (I have a spinning wheel but have not mastered it by any means yet). One owns Fancy Fibers Farm and owns a shop where she sells looms and spinning wheels AND handspun and hand-dyed yarn from her many alpaca and sheep.
