Several years ago, a handful of us MJF gals had a couple of 'mini apron' swaps... and oh what fun...
I still us mine for decorating around my trailer when I am decorating in the farm girl style...

this was our western/country girl apron swap.

I made lil denim ones....
We did a Halloweenie one and a non-themed one... I really should bring them all out and decorate with them on my 1st glamping trip of the summer,,, or just decorate around the kitchen with them,, like a valance above my kitchen window,,,

I love those, Grace. Maybe I should start a mini-apron swap. Would you join in? Did you swap 1 or 2 to a partner? Or did you make one for each FG signing up? I think that would be fun! Was there a size limit? like 5"? Now I'm hyped. I love your apron garland.

I have already decided. I'm going to start it as soon as I come up with the guidelines.

Linda,,, it was a set #.. ex: 20 in the swap.. so we each made 20 aprons to swap and received 20...
all the aprons were sent to the swap-mama along w/a mailer envelope w/ our name and addy and postage attached... for example,, when I send my padded envelope w/20 aprons I also inserted a return postage paid envelope,,, what ever the postage was to send the aprons to the swap mama, I added that much postage plus an additional $1.00 in postage just incase to cover the weight.
We had a 30day make & send schedule.
approx. 4-5" was the size we went with. Some of us tucked in a little note w/our aprons for the sender to enjoy,, a poem or photo etc.
So,,, what do you think? I know I would be game to join in...

oh,,, and most were easy peasy 1/2 aprons, but some of the gals were truly ambitious and used the McCalls mini apron pattern to make mini full aprons...
Some gals would make 20 of the same while others would use the same pattern but different fabrics... great us of scrap fabrics, trims, buttons etc...

In the 2nd photo,,, the 4th one over (L to R) blue denim was mine and the 7th one over (L to R) was a mini quilt apron made by one of the gals!
Luv them all!
oh and I would suggest the girls, if they can, sign the backside of their aprons.

Linda,, I luv the lil quilted one...
Some of the gals sewed lil labels on the back w/their names on the labels... others tucked in a note in the pockets.

Linda, this is 'sew' you...

this one has pockets w/a note (event/date & sewer's name)

I just wrote my name on a small strip of fabric and attached it while sewing on the waist band...

Well,,, maybe after we do the mini apron swap.... we can have a 'felt pin' swap....
yep, I made this one... purrrfect!

Oh Grace I did the mini apron swaps back then. I have my valentine's, spring, and 4th of July. I use them all still. I have had so many compliments on those aprons. I hang them along the valance on my kitchen window. Not sure I could do a swap because I don't have the space to sew any more but would definitely follow along to see how it all turns out.

Grace love-love the mini aprons. I'm inspired to make a few for myself. I'll start my making a pattern for a 4-5" half apron. May have a garland done by Jubilee.

Do you remember how many were in the swap before? We'd need to see how many signed up to see how many we might be able to trade. I will start this in a month or so. Should I do it here or in the Swaps category?

Thanx Nini...

Linda I did a rough count and on average there are about 16-18 aprons in each group except the western one,,, which if I recall, there were about 20.
So I wouldn't go over 20 in each swap... 15-20 mini's are easy enough to whip out and not to costly to mail...

I like the idea of posting in the "swap' thread,,, and also posting in the Stitching thread to direct them to the swap thread...

The reason for the additional $1 postage is t cover for buttons or other deco stuff on the aprons..

Hope this helps...

Sounds good, Grace. Think we can get 20 people? I sure hope so. And I'd love to do these for General/Country, Western, Patriotic, Christmas, and Halloween. Might be over a 2-year period. LOL! I'll put a feeler out and see what response I can get.

Everyone seeing this post - if you are interested, please go to Swaps and let me know if you are interested.

I started the thread on the Swap thread. I hope we get 20 - but on Febrauary 8 we will go with however many we have! If you want to jump ahead and make some aprons, I wouldn't make more than 10 yet just in case we do not get the full 20 people. But subscribe to the thread and you can keep up with the number of sign-ups.

I woke up in the middle of night as I am prone to do and laid there for two hours before going back to sleep. But the time was not wasted. I designed my first mini-apron in my head. It will be a hybrid designed so I can work around the difficulties I have with dealing with MS. I will gather the waist and sew on the waistband/ties and pocket by hand. The hem and side seams will be glued with white glue. The design is an egg gathering apron which was our official apron for last year's Jubilee. The second apron will be the official apron from 2015 Jubilee. I hope we have an official apron for this year. If so I want a mini apron to match. If not I will think of an design for it.

Planning on doing three aprons for banner. I'll finish it out with mini-tea towels. The more I think about it the more I like the idea of mini-tea towels. The banner will go in my china cabinet to replace the one I did in the fall.
