We were blessed to have only slight wind from Hurricane Dorian, and as I watch it blow through the trees, I stand there feeling it on my face, the thought came to me, where has this wind been? Has it blown the mane of a wild mustang, or touched the back of a bear? Maybe stirred up the snow in mountains of far away lands? How many sails has it gently blown, or great ships it caused to wreck from blowing strong seas? How the birds and butterflies do glide as it carries them along. I just wonder how many things has it touched and where has it been before it comes and touches me. Hugs Karla

Karla I love how you spoke about the wind and where it had been. To build on your thought - where will it go - will it die off in some far away country so a new wind may be born or does it have no beginning so it has no end.

Karla, beautiful musings on the winds in Florida after a hurricane. Adding on to this idea, what if you could ride on the Jet Stream winds as they make their way down from Canada? Think about all the cities, forests, farms, homes, skyscrapers and animals you would see?

As I write this the warm morning sun is shining through my window. It feels so good on my face and shoulders. Makes me happy to see the sun casting long shadows across my backyard. I wonder if I would be enjoying the warm sun as much this morning if it hadn't been dark and a freezing 22 just days ago.

Nice to see you posting, Sara. It is so nice seeing the sun shine. I did not like those freezing days a week ago; however, they started getting Ed and I ready for the Germany temperatures we will feel in a few weeks.

Well Sara---we at Rock Bottom Farm are sure enjoying the sunshine---it feels so good to be in the sun for sure. My donkeys are out sunning themselves and even the little mean one wanted hugged and petted. He even gave me a few kissy bites on my arm. The sun makes us all happy these winter days. It got t0 14 here one night, but it was kinda fun---we went early Christmas shopping and the cold and snow made it really feel like Christmas. I go outside and feed animals and walk my dogs every day---so whatever weather is around; I have just learned to enjoy all kinds of it.

We're having an unseasonable warm spell, 75 today. I love the light in November, not sure what causes it, maybe the angle of the sun this time of year. It's a soft, gentle light, kind of like a pastel version of summer. I'm enjoying it for now. Winter will come here soon enough.

Judith, I think of the sunshine this time of year as mellow and not harsh like our Texas summers. The sun seems to shine at a angle and not straight down. Keep an eye on the shadows as they slowly lengthen and by winter they will be at their longest. The season of long shadows is finally here and I love it.

Following a good rain of 2 1/2 inches on Friday night and Saturday, we are having our second chilly, overcast and damp day. It is about 50 degrees , but it is that damp and cold feeling that makes being outside requiring a warm coat and maybe some gloves. I find these days a huge blessing and gift after months of relentless heat and humidity. It feels good to curl up with a book or work on a handcraft project. These days won't last, and I am not in any hurry to see them leave us.

I posted before Winnie but somehow not all of my post made it.
Winnie glad you are enjoying cooler weather. I know how the heat & humidity can grind us down.
Back to my disappearing post. Judith I was saying I think of this time of year as the sun being mellow rather than the harsh sun of our Texas summers. It's also the season of long shadows that I love to see creep across my yard.
edit to say my post is now showing. I guess there's a wee mischief maker amongst us.

I almost (but not quite) feel guilty about enjoying this weather so much. We had 1/100 inch of rain back in September and nothing since but nice warm weather. We really need some rain. It doesn't feel right somehow to be turning on the sprinklers in November.

You ever wonder where our random thoughts come from - I have. This morning without any rhyme or reason sparklers popped into my mind. Growing up I remember having them for New Years Day but not for the 4th of July. I've always loved sparklers and have fond memories of them spewing their sparks as I waved them in the air.
One thought seems to lead to another. I have one memory of a New Years Day when I played with my sparkler in my shirt sleeves. Come Easter morning I wore a coat over my Easter dress. That's Texas weather for you.
