I blend a mix of American and German decoration each Christmas...
but because we will be gone from mid December to mid January ,,, so I only have a few things out.. including this wooden woodland deco lite...

I had to remove and replace the electrical lights as it was Euro and not USA compatible.

While at "World Market" I spotted some of these.. $39.00 each... Wowzers....

Grace, that is beautiful. I bet it's gorgeous to look at when it's dark outside and its lights are on. Do you have a story behind it?

It really is lovely at night,, I just can't get my camera to photo it...

In Germany, wood carved deco like these, Pyramids (those tall wooden wind mills), wheat stars and hearts, wood carved men that have pipes that 'smoke'...etc, are popular decorations. Not sure what the tradition is..

As for the "pickle in the tree"..it is an American-German tradition I think.. I have checked with my family and friends in Germany and they know nothing of the 'pickle' in the tree.

It's still really beautiful anyway! I haven't ever heard of the pickle in the tree before.

So beautiful! I have always heard of the hidden pickle on the tree but we have never hid one before. We got one at Dollar Tree this year and my husband is hiding it for me to find for fun. Poor holler folk do know how to have a Merry Christmas---LOL.
