On Saturday we finally brought home our little Maylee! Our family has been dealing with a large void with the loss of our great dane in December. My kids have been lost without her and so has my other dog. We decided it would help our family with the healing process is we got another great dane. We got a different colored one because it would be too hard to get one the same. We named her Maylee after our last great Dane. My dad jokes saying she has big shoes to fill! So far my kids love playing with her and my husband and I enjoy the snuggles. My other dog ady wont play with her yet, but checks on her constantly, especially if shes crying. I give it a couple more days and they will be playing. Maylee is the largest of her litter and is currently 14 and a half pounds. I'm excited to she how big she will be. She is doing awesome with her potty training but doesnt like to be left alone in her kennel at night. I feel like I have a new baby again, but we are loving her!

She is beautiful! She fits right in where the void was. You never forget or really replace the fur babies that crossed the rainbow bridge. We just add another baby to make new memories while remembering and cherishing the one that was before! Good luck with your new addition!

Krista, Maylee is beautiful. I've been around grown great Danes but never have seen a wee puppy. Now that I've seen her I understand what you meant about cuddling her - I want to too.

She is just beautiful!! What a coat she has. Love the colors. I have never met a Great Dane that isn't the sweetest dog. You will love watching her grow and she will be a wonderful addition to your family. Love her name Maylee! Hope you share pictures as she grows!

Wow Krista,
She is gorgeous! I love brindle coats. I wonder if she understands yet how lucky she is to get you and your family for her new pack. I am so happy for all of you and a little envious. We still have a bit of work to do and do not have a front fence yet to keep a new pup baby safe. Please do share lots of pictures and funny cute stories. Hugs and kisses to Maylee.

Thank you all for your kind words. Now that she is becoming more comfortable with us, her personality is really starting to show. She is so dang cute! She is so spunky and so sassy and she loves to “talk back”. Each day is getting better with the night time wake ups and it helps me appreciate it more and more that my children sleep through the night. I’m to old to wake up numerous times a night lol! She loves her food and will now take her treats. She is also starting to come when she hears her name. And my kids are really enjoying her. My oldest loves to take her outside to go potty, my daughter likes to play tug of war with her, but my middle only likes to hug her. He gets upset when she bites his fingers. Lol. She has been so much fun.

Sooooooooo cute or what? So happy you got a new puppy. My daughter just lost her 14 year old golden and it was so sad , but now she has a new pup and its been a big help. She said he can't replace ozzey, but its a big start. Good for you and your family, what a cute little pup.

Nancy, I agree. Maylee will never replace Zakell, but we know we always have so much more room in our hearts for more. I weighed her this morning and she has put on 2 pounds this week. She is growing like a weed. It’s crazy to think in just a couple more months she will be taller than our border collie. Now if only her NASTY puppy breath would go away! Lol

Lisa, you can have it all! Lol I even chatted with one of my vet tech friends about how to get rid of it faster. She said I can’t and thought I was crazy because she likes the smell as well. Yuck! I still enjoy her sweet kisses though.

That's so funny Krista. My neighbor just got a corgi pup and we both love puppy breath.
When I went up to meet her, she had just eaten and had kibble breath and not puppy breath! Oh no! LOL
Luckily, by the time I left, the kibble smell was wearing off.

Lisa, oh no! Kibble breath isn’t that great either lol.
Here is an updated picture of her! She has gotten so big in her week and a half here.
She is such a blanket hog and steals everyone’s blankets.

Maylee went in for her puppy visit today. She is now 19 pounds and looking very healthy. She only wanted to be held and the doctor laughed saying that I won’t be able to carry her for much longer. I think she is going to be a big lap dog. But I definitely love her snuggles.

I am trying to remember who it was,, but a Teen idol from the late 1960's had a Great Dane rescue,,, before he passed away. Rats! wish I could remember...
I think G.D's have a regal air about them...
Enjoy snuggling with Maylee before Maylee out weighs you! lol!
