I had just sent off my instacart order for the week when the side door doorbell rang behind my chair. At 15 min to 9 a.m. I wasn't expecting anyone. It was Karen one of the instacart shoppers with two sacks of groceries. Here's her story.
Yesterday a person in Chicago order groceries for a party in Paris that they were supposed to pickup. Karen did the shopping and after hours past the time of pickup the Aldi manager said she was going to throw the groceries out. Karen called instacart and they refunded the money. Then they told Karen the groceries were her's to do with what she wanted. So she delivered them to several of her customers. She brought the produce to me because she knew I always ordered fresh produce.
Karen and I stood on my side porch six feet apart and talked. I thanked her for thinking of me and I would share with my sisters. I gave the pineapple, cantaloupe, one apple, and head of cauliflower to my sister. I cooked the fresh Brussels spouts. Have carrots & apple to dry and jalapeno peppers to make hot sauce.
I'm sorry the party here in Paris didn't pickup the food but I'm thankful to Karen for thinking of me.

What a wonderful woman Karen is!! She has a beautiful story and I am happy to hear that she was able to bring you fresh food that you can share with your sister. What a banner day!!

Thank you all for your sweet words about Karen - Yes she is a true friend and blessing and I've only seen her less than a half a dozen times when she shopped for me. When I order I never know who my shopper will be. We don't get to have a favorite shopper.
