LOVE the cow hat! It turned out fantastic!

That butterfly is amazing! I've never done any felt crafts. Was it hard?

Grace, you are too sweet! That really made my day.

Vanessa, that is an adorable idea! Sounds like I need to get him a shirt that says that now!

Michele, your butterfly turned out great! Love the colors.

My diaper cover is almost done. I just need to finish the edging and make the tail. Then I’m off to make a tooth fairy pillow for my oldest. He finally has his first loose tooth.

Krista -- that hat is too too adorable. I'm always so envious of your beautiful crochet work. I've rationalized never learning to crochet by insisting it's because I'm left handed. But I have been told many times it's not so. LOL.

Heather felting is easy enough to do. Just don't poke your finger. Simple list of materials- a piece of foam, a felting needle and some wool. I am not the best at being a sculpture, but I like my results.

Jean, I am lefthanded and have crocheted for about 3/4 of my life now. My brother also and he too learned. Believe me if I can do it so can you!

Love the butterfly!! :)

I can crochet…but not well. Lol. I start off great but end up dropping stitches or making them tighter or something. My rectangles end up looking like aliens! Haha

Jean, the lady that taught me was left handed. It’s totally doable and never to late to learn! I love hearing how many people are left handed. My dad is left handed and I could have sworn one of my boys was going to be left handed but he ended up being right.

Wow, wool felting is a art I have not delved into... Yet!

In the mean time, I made a scissors cozy/sheath..
Love using scraps...
I made it to hold my 8" shears when traveling.

Yesterday I explored the local thrift store, where I scored 4 hospital sheets that will use for quilt backs and the i went to Goodwill where I found these 2 Samsonite train cases for $4.99 each. The lighter one still has its tray.

The darker one has a large pocket with a stretched out elastic, but the pockets on the short sides are still good.
So, I'm looking for ideas. Should I just spray paint them? Has anyone covered one with fabric or paper? Should I remove the big pocket and line the inside with paper?
I'm even thinking of gluing a coordinating ribbon on the area where the latches are.

Vanessa, OK 1st, Major Score on the vtg train cases!
I still see them in antique shops for between $10-25 depending on condition...

I have spray painted , but, use primer before painting.
I also deco
'd one, that was in ugly shape, with cute Scotty Dog Duct Tape.
And yes, I have decopaged some as well.

There is a site on facebook called , if I recal, Train Case or vintage train case,,, Some of the ideas are just fabulous.

If your case is a bit musty, use any of the 4 ideas... wadded up newspaper or charcoal or kat litter of baking soda, and close the lid for a few days.

As for painting, prep work is important.
I taped off everything I didn't want paint on, then premiered etc.
And BLING! it's all about the Bling!
One of my friends (from the trailer group) did a complete Post Card theme, she photo copied an assortment of post cards then decoupaged the photo copy onto the case.
I even saw a tile mosaic one...

What ever you do, have fun.

Grace, your scissors holder is very cute! I think it will work great for your travels.

Vanessa, those are some beautiful finds! I personally don’t have any suggestions on what to do since I haven’t done anything like that, but I’m excited to see what you decide and see how they turn out! I do think maps would be neat especially since it’s a train case.

My daughter and I have been working on a project for a cause the library here is involved in. Little girls pillowcase dresses. We didn't use pillowcases but we did use one for a pattern. We ended up with 20 dresses. We embellished some of them.

They were so fun to make and I got to spend time with my daughter and granddaughter as we taught them to sew.
And...I got my sewing mojo back!

Way to go Denise. I love making pillowcase dresses for charity, have made literally 100’s in all different sizes to send to Africa. Yours are beautiful and what great bonding time with your daughter and granddaughter. Grace, fabulous scissor holder.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.
