Yesterday I finished the quilt top for my nephew's wedding present and the huge (110"x120") backing for my large Christmas quilt. I took both quilts to my longarm quilter to put together and then I can sew the bindings.

I also hemmed a pair of my husband's work pants.

Today I am working on projects for swaps I have joined - after saying no more swaps. LOL!

I am working on a quilt my grandmother started, It's a scrappy, flashy quilt. I worked adding borders after the red borders that she had around log cabin blocks. There was a big roll of one inch strips sewn three across together and I added those after the red strips. It will be king size when completed.

Linda, when you get those back from quilter, show them to us!

Thank you! This is one of several that I will be completing that my grandma started. Some are blocks that need to be put together and some have pieces I need to cut to complete.

This one is a mini lone star pattern that is taking some time to get put together. All the pieces were cut out in the box and only a couple of the blocks were made.

I really do treasure these pieces of her life left behind. I grew up with her quilting with a quilt frame hanging from the ceiling and playing underneath it. Lots of fond memories.

My great grandma had a frame in a pulley that she would lift up to her ceiling, too. I think it’s a genius idea!

Neither of my grandmothers quilted. My mom's mother did sew a lot, but didn't quilt as far as I know, at least my mom had no quilts from her mother. My father's mother tatted and crocheted, but she never taught me either of those skills. I learned crochet and knitting from my mother. My mom did a lot of sewing, but only quilted in the last 20 or so years of her life; she did do a lot of cross-stitch, needlepoint and embroidery that was shown framed all around the house. I have most of those pictures.

Jean/JeanP: Sure hope those bring her some cheering up. So sorry for her loss. They are lovely. What a nice idea.

Karen/Jokamartell: I am working on completing tops my grandmother had started on or had cut out ready to piece. I have hand quilted a few small quilts but these will be sent to a longarm quilter.

Linda/quiltee: With my grandchildren getting older, it looks like I’ll be making some quilts for weddings in the near future. I still have mine from my maternal grandmother. I had sticker shock as I went buy some fabric for a backing. I hadn’t shopped for fabric in a very long time. I just picked back up sewing after a long break.

Krista/MaryJanesNeice: That’s going to be lovely when completed. And you are right, it can be displayed all year long. Your crochet is very nice.

Vanessa/AudraRose: I’ve had me eye on making a couple of those for grandsons. Even started a box with fabric scraps to make them. There are so many different ways to make those too. Going together with others makes it even more special. Love yours!

Vaneesa/AudraRose: Your sea glass pattern is beautiful. Have you had it quilted yet?

RuthieP: your sport quilt is great! Now I have an idea I can make for the couple of grandsons who play sports.

Wow, what lovely projects!

That quilt is gorgeous Betty and the lone star too. What wonderful heirlooms those are to have from family.

I'm taking the seaglass quilt to a fabric shop for backing and to have it quilted by my friend. She charges a penny per square inch.
