Oh Jana, I miss the Monarch migration.. they use to migrate up through here,, but are fewer and fewer to be seen :>(

The Swallowtail and the Canadian Swallowtail are a bit more in numbers/common,, but not by much...

Grace...the Spokane area has many more butterflies than we seem to have!! We have a lot of those pretty little white butterflies!! And a few Monarchs.
But your picture and Jana's picture makes me miss the Spokane area Butterflies!!

The other day I was out watering my Big flower pots and trying to avoid the spider webs and spiders...when I looked down and I had a baby Praying
Mantis on me. It wasn't even an inch long. Probably 1/2 inch. I put him back down! They are so fascinating to me. And always reminds me of the
Year we had a Praying Mantis Plague in Spokane. They were everywhere!! I work at The Crescent Downtown and they came in through the ventialtion
system...so, the restroom floors were covered in them. I would go home at night and go to open my Patio Door to let in the cool night Breeze and
there would be hundreds of them in all sizes hanging on the Screen Door. It reminded me of Biblical Plagues!! Pretty Strange!!

Speaking of Praying Mantis,, I had to run over to the Well Company,, and the P.O.,, as I started to open the door at the P.O., I spotted a little tan colored mantis, about 1 1/2",, so I let it crawl onto my finger and then took it over to the bushes, I didn't want it to get smashed in thre doorway..
I have been seeing a lot more of the brown ones lately, last year I was a few greens.. I love seeing them in my roses...

Speaking of plagues,,, this season seems to be the brown grasshopper plague! they are destroying my plants!! I have a few greens and dark browns, but mostly tan color... and Lots of them! uugh!

If it isn't one thing it's another...
lolol!
