I put my thinking cap in and crafted one: in fact, I made 2, so I'll either keep or gift the other.

Darlene - I don't want to give it away and spoil it for my swap partner, but look around your house and see what you can re-purpose. That's what I'm doing and so far I love the way it's turning out. It's amazing what you can do with paint, glue, fabric, paper, etc!

Ida Jane, I have you down, thanks for joining!!

Ladies, I just love how we all share ideas so much, this is totally meant to be a hob nob of haberdashery stuffed into something of somesort, lid, no lid, conventional, non convention, kitchen something or other, all wrapped on a spool, what ever catches your fancy - outside the box is totally welcomed as always, let your creativity and/or resourcefulness shine! I'm hoping all the haberdashery shared will inspire us all! I can't wait to see everyones idea of haberdashery!

Since Heather shared a hint of what she's working on, I'll also share a hint on mine:

P.S. My haberdashery has no lid!!
P.S.S. The little haberdashery prize that will given away will arrive with a kitchen flair!

Oh, and when I was a small girl, my grandmother made this sewing kit for me from a recycled cookie tin that she covered with fabric, ribbons and little roses. It's a little tattered these days, but I still use it and love it just as much as the day she gifted it to me. Just thought I would share my very first haberdashery long before I even knew it was haberdashery or what our DNA was.

Well, while we're sharing thoughts and ideas . . . Don't forget to check that forgotten stuff that's in your junk drawer(s) . . . and what about those orphan quilt blocks . . . . and, and, does it necessarily have to be something we would actually use or might it be something we would just love to "display" ??? Oh, the possibilities . . . I'm simply having too much fun with this one. Aren't you?

You gave me something else to think about in regards to lid. My everyday sewing basket does not have a lid. But, then the one with so many more sewing notions does have a lid. I was really thinking about shipping it and it being easier that ship with lid. So many goodies!

I sketched it out. The outer layer is of heavier upholstery fabric and the lining is the extra pillow ticking. You can make it from 2 pieces - the front and sides and the lid, back side and bottom. Just decide on the size of the bottom and the height of the sides. I also added pieces of batting between the layers.

I was hoping we would finish harvest so I would have enough time for this swap. We did so please include me April. I came up with some great ideas in the tractor, now I have to get busy and pull them together.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

Michele, this is what is written in the first post to be included for this swap. The last line mentions the container.

"For the swap, please include:

2 small pieces of fabric or cutter quilt
2-3 pieces of lace
2 pieces of ribbon
2-3 other (notions or embellishments) such as:
buttons
thread
embroidery floss
wooden spools
yoyo's
measuring tape
wooden clothespins
needles

Anything you can think of that a farmgal could use for sewing, slow stitching, scrapbooking, etc.

Wrap it up pretty, use an old tin, a fabric pouch, be creative!"
