What are your favorite fixes for Cabin Fever? Getting creative with your hobby of choice? Reading good book with a cup of your favorite tea? Watching a favorite chick flick? Planning this year’s garden? Practicing the Lost Art of Letter Writing by sending letters to old friends? Trying new recipes.? Creating a new project such as making an apron or a mini-quilt? Learning a new craft such as oil painting or calligraphy? Keeping a gratitude journal or making a junk journal? Pampering yourself -- think in-house spa? You get the idea. Send your partner a Cabin Fever Reliever package in the middle of winter.
Sign up by Saturday, February 4 by telling us your own personal favorite fixes for Cabin Fever . . . that will give your partner some perfect ideas for what to send to you.
Partners will be posted Sunday, February 5.
Send by Saturday, February 18 and be sure to include a letter telling your partner why you chose the particular items you did.

Sign me up too! This season is the doldrums of the year- Christmas is over and it's too cold to garden.
I love quilting, crafts, my doggies, reading, writing and cooking.
Please, no chocolate or candy - I can't say no and I need to eat healthier. I drink at least 3 cups of tea each day at work.

Oh Debbie, Audra and Karen, Thank you so much for being our first three Cabin Relievers. And it's so interesting hearing about your individual "fixes".

Audra, have you read "The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek"?? Isn't that about your neck of the woods?? Great book based on a real traveling library system in rural Kentucky.

And, Karen, have you read "Plain and Simple" by Sue Bender? It's the true account of a California art teacher from Berkeley who goes to live with two different Amish families. Wonderful read and wonderful lessons on simplifying your life.

I think I saw the book- she was one of those "blue people" in Appalachia, if I recall.

Yes, that's it. A really good story if you haven't yet read it.

Thanks, Jean! I would love to sign up for the Cabin Fever Reliever swap. I am certainly not used to these long, cold winters. Our winters in Queensland, Australia, are quite brief and the temps aren't really that cold (most of us can put a pair of shorts on by noon). So, this swap sounds like the perfect way to elevate my mood through the gloomy days of winter...

I like to get outside as much as I can (skiing, running, walks in the snow with my hubby);
I also enjoy experimenting in the kitchen (gluten free recipes); cups of warm coffee or tea; sudoku puzzles; letter writing; biographies, travel & real-life adventure stories; listening to music; knitting; & jigsaw puzzles;

For those of you who might be interested in the "Plain and Simple" book. Check out www.abebooks.com . It's available there at a very reasonable price. It's one to own and read several times . . . a very feel good story.

Cabin fever is the distressing claustrophobic irritability or restlessness experienced when a person, or group, is stuck at an isolated location or in confined quarters for an extended time. A person may be referred to as stir-crazy, derived from the use of stir meaning "prison". Wikipedia

Well, there you have it according to Wikiipedia anyway. I'm kind of stuck at home all the time anyway, but what really gives me Cabin Fever is eternal snow when it is bad enough to hamper getting out of the house and going anywhere. How about you? Any special triggers?

Our Cabin Fever Reliever players so far are:

Sign me up please,
I love to do swaps and not too much on writing. I am not a very good speller. But I do really want to do this one very much. I like to do beading, Card making, making Junk Journals, mini books, mini photo albums, crocheting, diamond dots, puzzles, sewing, baking, and video games. But my favorite is Junk Journals, card making, and puzzles. Thank you for doing this swap, this is right up my Allie.

It's definitely been Cabin Fever weather here in northern Idaho. New snow has everything blanketed in pristine white and overnight temp was minus 6.8 degrees. Now that it's morning, it has warmed up though to a balmy plus 6 degrees. Football playoffs today, so I will sew while my DH is glued to the TV. I think I'll put on a pot of good ole' Mormon Split Pea Soup to simmer all day for dinner tonight. Good wintry comfort food.
Thanks y'all for playing in this swap. It will be fun to see what everyone comes up with.
hugs,
jean

Hi Jean,

Please sign me up. I haven't been on here in months, and this sounds like the perfect swap to get me back into my farmgirl mode. Thank you for hosting!

I love milk chocolate plain or with peanut butter, nuts, or mint.
I love to do just about any craft out there. I knit, crochet, quilt, sew, needle felt, paper craft, cross stitch, and do other crafts as well. I'm teaching myself how to play the guitar.
Books are my passion. I read just about anything. Love any and all animals. Love surprises.

thanks again for hosting
hugs,
Marcy

Welcome Marcy from the frozen Northwest. It was minus 12.6 degrees overnight. But it has warmed up to a balmy minus 1 now. Woo Hoo!!

That’s is way too cold for me Jean. It was 26 degrees here when I got up this morning, it’s not suppose to be that cold here on the coast!

Good morning Cabin Fever Reliever swappers. Partners are posted. Have fun putting your packages together. Mail date is the February 18. Stay warm and stay well. Interesting new thread on the Across the Fence page about Ham Radios -- check it out. And, if you're looking for a good book to read while you are waiting for Spring to arrive, check out my latest recommendation on the Reading Room page.
hugs,
jean
