A little before six I watched as a black car drove past my house; back up; and stop in front of my neighbor's home. A grey-haired lady got out and walked to my house. I met her on my front porch, and she told me she had lived in my house in 1959 till the mid 1960s. She talked about much she loved my little house and how happy she and her husband were. Then she went on to say she was in town because she had just lost her son and her sister was trying to keep her busy. I shared with her that I had lost my only child, Dustin, in 2017 so I understood her grief. We visited for a short while then said our goodbyes.

It's strange how you can meet someone for a fleeting moment and feel like you have known them forever. I did learn that she is 82 and I am 81 so we have that in common and probably share similar memories of our up-bringing. Chances are I will never see her again, didn't even get her name, but I would like to think down around Ft Worth I have a friend.

I'm glad you had such a nice surprise visit. I do hope she stops by again before she goes home. You both sound like kindred spirits.

Sara, that is such a great story. I am glad you were able to find another amazing woman just like you. It's crazy how everything happens for a reason, but I bet she needed that visit with you just as much as you needed it. Thank you for sharing your story.

What a beautiful story... and to think you also have the same home in common. Paths always cross for a reason, if only for a fleeting moment. Hugs, Sara.

Sara,
What a wonderful surprise visit. Just love that . That doesn't happen very often. Almost like in the movies. I know that's something you won't forget.

Dianna, Heather, Krista, April, Nancy Jo, CeeJay, it means a lot to me to know y'all get how much her visit meant to me.

What I have learnt about my house is that everyone who has lived here loved the little house. That has to be one of the reasons I love being here too, my house has known nothing but love and peace since it was moved to Paris after WWII. It might have been born on an army training base during the war but since then it has known only peace.

Sara, what a beautiful surprise you had! It is one of those things you would never guess would happen and when it does, you feel very connected in the end. I bet she felt the same way when she left your home too. Being able to visit one's old home is a special gift. As we age, we often think back on certain times in our lives and wonder what has happened . I think a home, where one was very happy, is carved deep in our hearts and to be able to just walk the place again and feel the changes as well as the sameness is like a balm to your heart. I know this lady was grateful for your kindness and hospitality to her request. And like you say, you now feel you have a friend in Ft. Worth. I love this story that you shared!
