This afternoon my mother-in-law fell. Luckily she was upstairs in our living room. Unfortunately she has a broken hip.
She is 93.

****
The nurse at her nursing home informed us that due to several things Dee is in decline my husband and his older sister decided to allow her to pass away in peace. She will be cared for and we've notified family. We don't know how much time she has left.
************************
December 2nd
My mother-in-law is still hanging on. She can walk short distances but the daily care she will need is more than my husband and I can provide and would be expensive. My husband's older sister told her that she would stay in the nursing home but could take day outings and have 2 weeks vacation.
I know my husband is relieved that she will be monitored for her chronic leukemia and heart problems. We are fortunate that she's nearby and we'll see her often. God is good.
**************

My mother-in-law will be staying in the nursing home. We cannot care for her ourselves and a caregiver would be expensive. She is well cared for there but sometimes she gets funny ideas like she's being abused in the basement or arrested for attacking a nurse. It's hardest for my husband because she leaves pitiful messages on his phone. We never know if she will be lively or apathetic.
My a d Churunga's mom also fell and broke her hip. She is now in a nursing home and is in therapy.
It's cold and snowy today. The dogs have cabin fever. Thank goodness for crafts and quilting

Oh my gosh Vanessa, I am so sorry! Is she at home or at the hospital?
I will put her in my prayers!

Hugs for you too!

Vanessa, I am sorry to hear about your Mother-in-law's fall and broken hip. It is the problem of so many of our seniors. Sending my prayers that she has a speedy recovery and will be back to being able to do what she loves to do real soon.

Thank you all! She got through the surgery fine. The doctor said she has good bones for her age. After a few days she's going to be transferred to the nursing home in our county. It's rated above average, but I've been there and it smells. Maybe that will be incentive for her to exercise and come home.

Oh what good news! I am glad she has strong bones!! That does make a whole lot of difference!
I will keep her in my prayers and hope she works hard to get out of there.
Maybe she will enjoy her physical therapy and get out sooner.
Vanessa you take care of yourself too!

Hugs and love

Vanessa, is your M-I-L doing okay? The couple of days after a fall and surgery are always the most painful, I hear.

So glad to hear she came through surgery well and prayers for her road to recovery.
My dad had the same when he was 87 but he had to have a rriple bypass before he could have the surgery.

She is still a bit absent minded and needs to drink more liquids. My sister-in-law is sitting with her so my husband can have a break.
