I re-read this book every Summer. It is By Anne Morrow Lindbergh. Mother of the Kidnapped Lindberg Baby. Most of us are old enough to remember hearing our parents talk about, and still see new stories over the years about it. She reflects on her life, love and marriage, while on a short rest by the Sea. She never mentions the Baby, but you can tell when her heart is feeling that. It was written in 1955 and re-released again in 1975, She has written many other great books also. I never tire of reading it again, especially in the summer.

Debbie, I just finished it again. It really makes you stop and think and look at life as we, women ,know it. If only we could all get away by the Sea alone for just 1 day!

Oh I would love that, like you say Connie just for a day at the sea, to find peace, relax and just contemplate life, what a blessing that would be.
Hugs,
Debbie

I will look into this book too, I've not heard of the book.
Agree about the sea! One of the things I miss most from Calif is the ocean. My son lives in Encinitas/Carlsbad area and my favorite thing to do when there visiting was to take my morning cup of coffee and drive a bit down the highway and park by the this most awesome ocean view. Would roll down the windows and just watch and listen to the incredible sounds. A few times I would get up super early and see the sun rise. I really miss those times! The ocean is so fierce yet there is such a calm and peace at the same time?

Ok now I'm a bit homesick :)
I do have a beautiful park out here with a lake that is my 'water spot' here. It's not the sea? But it is lovely in its own.
Kathy, when you visit your daughter here, have you been to Sedwick County Park? It's beautiful. Check it out sometime if you haven't before.

Blessings,
Linda

I will look into that book, I have never heard of it before either
The ocean is a calming effect with the rolling tides. Check out Desk top backgrounds for some beautiful pictures of ocean pictures. It helps a little bit.
Take care

Yay! I found a copy at our local library. Took me a little while to get over there, but I have a lot going on just now. (Posted under Hogs and Quiches on the farm.)
I am looking forward to settling in with it and a cup of tea this evening.

Thanks Connie for recommending this book. I have found one and as soon as I finish the book I'm reading now. I plan on starting this one can't wait, it must be really good. I love the beach, live about 5 hours to our closest one. But I did get to stay over at Galveston at the first of May and it was great just to get to spend 24 hours there. Mark and I got to go for a late night stroll after supper and an early morning stroll to look for shells. Now those shells are in my bathroom with some sand, and every time I look at them I feel like I'm back at the beach. So looking forward to starting the book. I'm reading Ladybug Farms right now has anyone else read this? Have a great weekend everyone.

Farmgirl Hugs & May all your Wishes come true.

Just found my copy. Must be a sign, as it's a mess around here with renovations etc.. Getting my own room/quilting studio. Everything is scattered around the house in boxes etc. Would you believe I bought this book back in 1990? I used to date my book purchases. Not sure why, but it makes it interesting. It was the 20th anniversary edition and I paid $3.95! I don't think you can get a new book for that price anymore! lol Happy reading everyone!

Sherry, How great you were at Galveston, I love that song by Glen Campbell too. I long to go to the beach! since you love shells, you will like how Anne describes the shells in the book. Carole, you lucky girl! I am just trying to get a corner of my guest room for crafting and sewing! That was a great price on your copy for sure!!!
