Winnie, That is so nice! My hubby would love it, as he is a big WWII History guy, plus he so appreciates all the men and women that served in WWII. He says they are the real Hero's and we are loosing them so fast now. He is a Vietnam vet! We always stop to Thank a Vet when we see one, and let them know we appreciate their sacrifice. Freedom is not free!

Ruth, I have been learning more and reading more about both WWI and WWII in recent years. They were such big game changers for the world and both of my parents lived during those wars. As I learn more, I have been amazed at how both wars impacted the ives of women on both sides of the Atlantic and it is from this perspective that I have been drawn in to glean more insight into what was done nationally by women to help the causes. It is so fascinating and it keeps me reading and learning to understand it all better.

All, I have worn my vest and it is quite warm and cozy. Now I am working on another vest using the same pattern with pretty yarn that self stripes for something more contemporary. Whenever I do a pattern that works, I am motivated to do it again and again until I get it perfected. Plus, I enjoy seeing how skeins of yarn turn into something you can wear and enjoy. My problem is that I cannot just knit all day everyday so I have to be realistic in what I can accomplish! LOL!!

Knitting is my first passion, as I have knit for years and then more years. Socks are what I am enjoying always and have a drawer full, plus my family have many. I seem to always have a pair on needles to just pick up and knit when I can which is some every day. However, a friend gave me a pattern for Christmas called the hitchhiker scarf from Ravelry. I so enjoy it, making and wearing. I have several for myself and have made some as gifts. I will finish my seventh one this week. It is for a dear friend. Then I ordered gold colored alpaca/silk yarn to knit myself a special, fancy hitchhiker scarf to be a companion for my trip this fall to France. Excited. Knitting is great relaxation and the finished products are so useful.

Katie, I love to knit too! I'm into socks at the moment. I enjoy purchasing funking yarn and knit fun socks. One can never have to many pairs of socks! Of course, they make great gifts. Just ordered some colourful yarn. I cannot wait to see it in person!

Finished this little quilt last. I'm hoping to get it machine quilted tonight! The pattern is called Heritage Star and I used the original line of fabric for it. I love Kim Diehl's style!

The pattern is free and can be obtained here: http://tinyurl.com/nvudt88

Enjoy your day everyone! Cheers!

Carole that is beautiful!

What kind of yarn do you use for socks? I am getting a sock loom I am going to try.

Thanks and hugs

Thanks Darlene for you kind compliment.

As for sock, I have never worked with a loom so I do not know if what I use would be good for the loom. I like a yarn that is soft so I tend to buy Cascade - Heritage Silk Paint - http://www.cascadeyarns.com/cascade-HeritageSilkPaints.asp - I like the softness of the silk in it for my tootsies

The other yarn I like is by Dove Roving Yarns http://www.doneroving.com/index.html - they are right out of Maine.

I'm sure you have lots of options in CA. We are so limited here in small town USA. I rely a lot on the internet for my purchases. We did have a small yarn shop (which I supported) but she closed last year. [;(]

It's been a busy two weeks for me! I finally had some time in my sewing studio. Finished this little quilt. It measures 24.5 x 24.5".

I'm calling this one Blue Book - only because I've been watching way tooooo many UFO documentaries! lol

So what have you been up to?

That yarn sounds so soft, I love silk anything.

I have a soft yarn I am trying but so far I just have done the first stitch, I have to look on the website to get any sense out of the directions. That is just me.

Take care.
