Oh my goodness Denise! Praise God your friend is alright!!!! Did the tornado cause much damage??? Thankfully none touched down here! I always enjoy severe storms, but then hate the damage they cause... does that make sense at all? I think they are a wonderful reminder of the power of God!

Now that I have MY computer back, I will try downloading my pictures so I can show you guys the various cakes dd has made!

Alicia - hoping everyone stays cool and well hydrated!

What a week we are all having!! Wonderful birthdays AND awful storms. Yesterday, our local heat wave of 100 degrees everyday FINALLY got broken with a thunderstorm . But oh what a nasty storm! You know the kind with lightening and raining side ways? We desperately needed the rain as everything was parched and wilted. We've been watering the flower pots but the trees ann grass were getting pretty stressed. For those of you in the path of the horrible tornadoes, I hope your areas were spared. It has been very scary when I look at the daily forecast map on weather.com!!

Can you all believe that June is almost over? Is it me or is time flying by faster than before? Yesterday, I had Fall on the brain so I gathered ingredients for my handcrafted coffee I named "Warm Apple Pie". I use various coffee beans from the bins at a local market and try and create what tastes like a light cinnamon/vanilla coffee reminiscent of apple pie. One key flavored coffee bean is no longer available so I am having to start from scratch again. Not sure about the new "recipe". I am going to have to make a cup for a few times more and see if it meets the muster, so to speak. Is anyone out here a flavored coffee lover and would agree to be a taste tester for me? I will send you a sample and then you give me your honest opinion. If you are interested, email me and I will get it off to you. When I first came up with the idea, I was still working and had a colleague who was my taste tester for feedback.

What a neat idea Winnie! Sadly I am not a coffee drinker, at all! In fact, I cannot even stand the smell of it, hahahaha. My poor hubby has to make his own coffee, as I do not even know how to work the pot! Maybe one day I will learn....

There were a few cars toppled in the mall parking lot and it took some of the roof off the mall but as far as I know there is only downed trees and lines and no one, as far as I have heard has been injured. We have lost our cell service but we have a land line too so we are good.

Would love to see photos of the cakes!!

Winnie, I love flavored coffee and would be excited to try your blend! Send it on up and I'll try it right away. We had the same storm everyone else is talking about, but luckily no damage except my precious pickling cucumber plant in a pot blew over. I'm trying to garden a little and have one tomato plant and one cucumber. It was half my crop! Hee Hee! No it was okay, just had to set it to rights and repair my homemade trellis.

Happy birthday to Matt! Hope everyone came through the storms safely, and God Bless!

Happy Day!

Thanks Amy!! I am sending some out today. Please let me know what your thoughts are: too strong, too bitter, too much vanilla etc. I personally like coffee strong and it is hard for me to know if I add too much dark roast to the blend for most tastes.

Winnie your coffee sounds good but I am not a good one to test on. I like my coffee totally covered up.
Denise I am glad you are ok. Stay safe out there.
Amy I like your garden I have a tomato plant in my living room, it is about 2 feet high :D and some buds on it.
that is all I have this year.

Maybe a pumpkin, I am hoping for one on the plant.

Have a good day

I was working a little bit on our vacation plans today and got to wondering if any of you had vacations planned and where you are going. We (that would be the 4 generations of girls) will be heading up to Martha's Vineyard in July, then spending as couple of days in Boston. I'd love to hear about anyone else's vacation plans!

Happy Day!

Alicia, there are so many historic places to visit in Boston that might be of interest to you and your girls. It is a virtual Mecca of American History! Not to mention all the wonderful lobster to enjoy everywhere. Enjoy your trip as it sounds absolutely fantastic!

No, we aren't really a sleeping in kind of family, Amy. ;) We looked at property (trying to find our forever farm), visited Springfield, Branson, Silver Dollar City, Rocky Ridge Farm (where the "Little House" books were wrote), and went to the Spring Planting Fest at Bakersville (Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds).

Winnie, I only have one girl. Unfortunately going East isn't a very good match for our family. We tend to travel with "protection" and Eastern states have some nasty laws for that sorta thing.

Hello everyone,

I have finally caught up! I apologize for not having much of a presence. It's crazy for me at the moment.

My little Pumpkin has graduated. Having lots of family from out of state coming down for the weekend. If I'm counting correctly we are hosting 10 people in my home, the rest are coming down for the day. It should be lots of fun! My in-laws came over from MA yesterday to attend Pumpkin's graduation. Yep, it's official! Such an emotional time for me. So happy for her and yet .... a bittersweet moment. Here is the joy of my life:

I am so proud of all of her accomplishments.

I will probably be MIA for a bit until everything settles.

Enjoy the weekend! Excuse me while I wipe a tear ....

as most of you know I have my 13 year old daughter at a horse camp this week. Right now they are in the cellar under a major tornado watch apparently. I have not had a chance to look at the weather myself just going by what she sent me in a text. Please pray. She sent this.
