Most importantly, I'm glad you know what it is now! How bad of a case does she have??? Poor Sawyer too! Hoping your family resumes good health in the very near future!

I am sorry to hear mono has landed in your household! So miserable for for children. My youngest had it in high school and was quite sick for a month and she had strep throat in the mix of that time as well to add to the misery. Hope everyone starts feeling better soon and you take good care too!

Good Morning everyone, I hope all households are on their way to being health. Sherry how was the reunion and Bonnie I would love to hear how that tour went? Winnie are you surviving the Florida summer heat? Denise are you still canning with your cute kitchen help? I spent some time in the garden this morning and after I have a cup of coffee I will go out to pick raspberries. Than it is barn cleaning day. The vet room needs a thorough cleaning as does the holding pens. Not a fun job, but a necessary one. Have a great day everyone.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

Alicia so glad they found the problem. Praying for good health for your family.
Shannon, thinking of you and hoping all is going well with getting settled and putting the old house on the market. Will be praying for a quick sale.
Julie, haven't done anymore canning. Those jobs around the farm aren't much fun but it feels so much better once they are done.
Getting things ready to go to a family wedding this weekend in PA. So excited as I am also going to get to see the 2 littlest granddaughters. They always give me heart smiles.
I have been busy sorting and getting rid of lots of things I know longer want to be cleaning and taking care of around here. I feel so much lighter and I know it will be so much easier to get things done quickly with less stuff around.
I expect everyone is quite busy with summer work. Waiting for the garden things here to be ready for harvesting.

Hello everyone,

Nice to see the conversation flowing! I so enjoy grabbing a cuppa and catching up. Hope everyone's life has stabilized to their liking. Here, it continues to be busy with Pumpkin and DH leaving for VA in order to work on the Appalachian project. With the craziness that has been going on, I am looking forward to having the house to myself for a week. I may just take a couple of days off to rest my weary soul! lol

Take care everyone! Hugs!

I had a good morning I was able to help a dragon fly get out of the post office, He was big and beautiful and got stuck up in the ceiling area so I got one of those long poled dusters and finally got him to stay on long enough to go outside and zoom he flew off. It was beautiful because he was moving his wings so fast and I got to see that as he was struggling to find a way out. Beautiful!

Julie How did your raspberry picking go?

Carole, I hope your are enjoying your quiet rest for now. All have a wonderful day!

Hello ladies, Hope everyone is on the mend. So sorry to hear of illness in the summer.I am so glad that everyone is surviving the heat and getting canning and cleaning accomplished. Our garden is really struggling this year. The little rain we get comes in absolute downpours, so fast and hard it does little good. The heat and humidity are awful and it isn't even August! Oh my this sounds whiny! I am blessed to be able to enjoy the inside and work on sewing, and crafts. I usual read much more in the winter and this summer I am getting some books finished. I work in the garden in the early hours! Blessings to all. Maryellen

Good Morning everyone from the land to HOT!! Last night it was 88 degrees at 9pm and humid. It has been a pretty miserable summer this July with the heat, humidity and torrential rains everyday. It sounds like all of us here on the east coast are experiencing the same patterns. I've been reading that gardens everywhere down here are suffering this year.

Maryellen, I am also getting a lot of projects and reading done myself this year since being outside is limited. I am looking forward to late September when we usually start getting a few days here and there that are lower in humidity.

I hope everyone who has been fighting illness in their family are healing and getting back to normal. Being sick in the Summer is such a bummer!!

Everyone, have a great day and upcoming weekend!

Oh Darlene, thank you for getting the dragonfly out safely. I am one of those too! lol I am known for taking insects and bringing them outside. Dragonflies are my favourite as they hang around with fairies, the real kind!

Sherry, hope you had a wonderful family reunion! So much fun to see everyone!

Here in the way up northeast I can see Canada from my house, we have had a lot of rain. Like you, Maryellen, down pours. I'll take the rain or snow over hot and dry! Fortunately our garden is doing well. Because of the rain, I haven't had much of a chance to enjoy my pool. I have emptied it a couple of times, as it was beginning to overflow! It does need a good vacuuming! Maybe this weekend!

Planning on taking a day off on Saturday just to putts around in my sewing room. It does need a good cleaning. It has been a dumping station for the past couple of weeks.

Enjoy your day everyone. Cheers!

Thanks Carole, I agree with you.

What is it like to see Canada up there, Rocky, mountainous?
There are so many different weather patterns, it is amazing isn't it.
Well have a good day.

Glad to see all the updates here. Getting things packed and ready to travel to the wedding. Looking forward to some quiet time with JT. Between working and caring for dad it is hard to get time to talk to one another. The temps have cooled to tolerable here and we picked about a quart of blackberries yesterday. Hoping they don't all ripen at once while we are gone. Trying to keep the garden watered. For awhile all we got was rain, then it was just hot. Now it has cooled but no rain in the forecast.
Winnie, I don't miss the Florida summers.

Carole, hope you get a few days of clear so you can use your pool.

Darlene, how is your search for a vehicle coming along?

Sherry, hope your reunion went well and you have been enjoying your time of being farmgirl of the month.

Hello all. It is summer here in north central Texas also. We have been hanging out around 99 degrees. I did my neucular stress test yesterday. It was not bad. In fact the worst part was trying to hold my hands above my head for twenty minutes, twice. I broke my right elbow a couple of years ago and messed up my shoulder, so that was uncomfortable. I looks like they won't tell me what they think until next week.
I spent the morning sitting in my GRANDDAUGHTERS upstairs bedroom while she cleaned it up. She has been working on it off and on for three days. I guess she just needed some company, because she came, on Barney Rubble's Flintstone mobile, to get me at 8:15 am. I tried to help but she just wanted someone to talk to. Her one hour grew to three before she quit. It is not finished, but in thirty minutes more it should be. This was funny. She picked up a little paper and said it was her I owe list. When I asked she said she owes her sister $25, her dad $10, her Bapa $50 and her mom hundreds. I told her that she was probably the only one who remembers, but it is important to her. She does have her bag packed for their trip, but moved it from the center of the room, at my suggestion.
I usually make a to do list before I go to bed, but gave that up for her this summer. She spent most of last summer at MD Anderson in Houston getting proton radiation, so this is our summer to hang out, go have lunch once a week, run errands, water cows and horses, etc. God is good.

Hi Everyone. Thanks for the birthday wishes and goodies. I am still getting stuff and my birthday was July 8. I went on a barn quilt tour Saturday. These are in an adjacent county. There are 124 but we saw 7, well actually 8 because the gps for the bus guided us to one we didn't ask for. So fun to see barns being taken care of and being used. One barn, built in the 1890s, housed a really adorable sales shop of organic vegetables. The lady who owned it is 83 and a human dynamo. She has grand-daughters and others to help but she had antiques in the top and made us home-made fresh-squeezed lemonade and molasses cookies. She said she works 7 days a week and is doing what she absolutely loves. Another place we toured was a junior high school vegetable garden (huge) and beautifully cared for. It raises the vegies for the school lunches and donates to the homeless shelters in the area. Very impressive. Another farm had a new farmhouse designed like you would if you could design your own with a wrap around porch and unique windows. She had a granary that had antiques also. That farm was surrounded by acres of tall corn. Another stop was the county fairgrounds that had a log home with a log cabin quilt block. Very appropriate. Have to tell you about one of the ladies on the tour. She was 79 and had a butch hair cut which looked dynamite on her. She had gotten braces when she was 65 and her teeth were beautiful. Her enthusiasm for life was just the farmgirl spirit Mary Jane helps us all to know. The tour was such fun. Wish you could all have been there.

Wow, Bonnie, your barn tour sounds fantastic! I would have loved to have been along with the group.

Marilyn, I am happy that you are having fun time with your granddaughter this summer and that she is in remission! Hopefully your stress test will come back with good results too!

Shannon, I am happy to hear that you are settled in your new place. It has been a huge job to move while being sick and 9 months pregnant. Wowza! Hopefully, you are going to be able to wrap things up at the old house soon so that you all can rest and get fully well!

Denise, have a safe and fun wedding weekend!

Carole, enjoy a quiet weekend just for YOU! I would love to be able to see Canada from my house! Your summers sound preferable to Florida ones!! LOL!!

Amy, received your sweet postcard. Thanks and I'm glad you are having a good time.

We made it to our hotel around 2:30. 6 hr trip. We went to see my mil and took her with us to see where the church is for the wedding. Don't want to get lost. Went back and found a nice little restaurant where we met met up with dd and her family. The grand girls are cute as can be of course. Going to spend some time with them this evening as we were able to get adjoining rooms. Nice to be able to put the kiddos to bed and relax and visit for awhile.
looking forward to seeing lots of family at the wedding tomorrow afternoon.
hope everyone is enjoying some great weather. This weekend is supposed be gorgeous and so far so good.

I wanted to share a really fun project that was inspired when Denise Ann was cleaning out her fabric stash and found some darling tractor and vintage scraps. She gifted them to me and then I contacted Farmgirl, Grace (country grace) over on the main Forum to make me a new apron. I added some small red check fabric to fill in the gaps and Grace found some extra tractor fabric to complete the pattern. Voila!!

Isn't this adorable??? I just love how it all turned out. The vintage style prints with a tractor and a young woman (apron pockets) are just fun and Farmgirl perfect!

Morning ladies! We are getting a "cold front" here in South Carolina... we are only in the low to mid nineties with a heat index BELOW 100! We are relishing the break! Unfortunately, we are still all sick... enough so that I have actually contacted my doctor about getting put on an antibiotic, which is a HUGE deal for me! I have not been on an antibiotic since last August, as generally what we are dealing with are viruses. But at this point, it looks like I have a sinus infection that is affecting the entire right side of my face (cannot even open my mouth the whole way, as I am so swollen on that side!) and possible pneumonia (they cannot confirm due to not letting them take an x-ray with me being so pregnant), so I am thinking an antibiotic at this point might be advisable, BEFORE Emi comes! Someone asked when Emi was due... according to my last cycle, on August 23rd. By ultrasound, August 30th. So they decided to put my due date as September 2nd so that I have a little leeway if she comes late. (they do not typically like you to go late if you are a VBA2C)

Marilyn - I think it is incredibly sweet that your granddaughter wanted your company in order for her to clean her room! I can only hope that when I have grandchildren, I have such a wonderful relationship with them as well. Have you heard the results for your stress test?

Bonnie - the barn quilt tour sounded lovely! Hoping your birthday was truly lovely!

Winnie - Oh my that apron is precious! I had to take a second look when I saw the last name Harding... that was my maiden name. I need to downsize my craft supplies, but it is so difficult! I have so much "stuff."

Denise - I so hope the wedding went well! And you enjoyed the time with your family! I need to contact Jessie, as I have not heard from her in some time! Please give her my love!

Amy - I too received a postcard. It is always so uplifting to receive Farmgirl mail! Thank you so much!!!
